Seems very strange. I don't know who is lining up at the Ipswich meeting, but the only other riders who would be unavailable that night and realistically riding would be Kennett and Sweetman for Coventry.

An enjoyable meeting today. Well done to Lee Smart, I don't think anyone expected him to pop out from between Howe and Doolan and tear off down the back straight. Barker was very entertaining and if you're an Ipswich fan you should be very excited at the prospect of Doolan lining up for you next season. Not as cold as last year either!

To what end? Riders have already signed contracts in both leagues based upon the rules agreed at the AGM.

Given that both Elite and Premier league clubs have already built teams around the existing rules, changes to any of the above simply to appease Coventry would make speedway even more of a laughing stock than it already is.

But you're right, it is a pain having to write all the names in and there doesn't seem to be any benefit to doing the draw so close to the actual event.

Of course, you could always print half a dozen copies of the completed race card the morning of the GP and then make some new friends by distributing copies to those sitting around you.
