  1. Who said today was going to be "the day"? Some 12-year-old on Twitter?
  2. Why spunk a couple of grand away on pointless away racesuits then?
  3. I think releasing four per year is actually quite a good idea as people are more likely to buy this in addition to Speedway Star rather than instead of it.
  4. The European club championship will be shown on Sky, however Eurosport have the rights to the individual European championship, but it is unclear if this will be shown on British Eurosport.
  5. Who covers the minor countries GPs like Italy, Latvia and Slovenia? I assume BSI cover the costs of providing this coverage?
  6. That seems a considered and well thought out response. As for Middlo, his default position is to defend his riders, so if he was put on the spot by a reporter I'm tempted to give him the benefit of the doubt.
  7. Interesting. Is the land still for sale? I wonder if this is an attempt to force the council's hand?
  8. And people say there are no characters left in the sport.
  9. I've seen more on Twitter and Facebook about this series than I have the start of the league, so maybe these guys were planning on actually promoting their events rather than simply sitting in their ivory towers and expecting customers to turn up?
  10. Damn. I was hoping this would be a thread about getting a proper DJ to play some banging techno during the races.
  11. Well, that's why I said "potential" customers. I do find it surprising though that British speedway doesn't try to do more to convert the armchair fans into paying customers.
  12. Assuming around 100,000 people watch the GPs on Sky and about 40,000 people attend a meeting in any given week, that leaves 60,000 "potential" customers who could be tapped-up by British clubs to actually attend a meeting, if the GPs are not on Sky.
  13. To be fair, British speedway and the BSPA are both perfect, so I don't see what this new series could possibly offer.
  14. I think Saturday night clubs could well benefit from the GPs not being on TV, but overall, if speedway is not shown on at all then I think this will have an overall detrimental affect on crowds in the medium to long term.
  15. Call it something else then. That solves the licencing issue. As for insurance, I'm sure experienced riders like Kevin Doolan and ex-GP rider Jason Bunyan know what to look for to ensure they have adequate cover.
  16. So do you think the people who organise shorttrack/dirttrack events (on speedway tracks, featuring speedway riders) do not have the proper licences, insurance and legal cover? Plenty of one-off meetings are arranged, why can;t someone put together six meetings and call it a "series"?
  17. Do Eurosport have the rights to show highlights in Britain though?
  18. What constitutes a "speedway meeting"? It is the track, the bikes, the riders or even the term "speedway"? I only ask as flattrack meetings were held last year on tracks that also host speedway, featuring rider who also ride speedway.
  19. Are you telling me that British Eurosport showed GP and SWC highlights in 2012?
  20. I'd have thought the additional value brought in by tv coverage is negligible?
