  1. Does it though? If your boss quits his job and you are asked to take his position, you'd expect the same salary that he was on, wouldn't you? I wouldn't be surprised if Hans Andersen was paid more per point in 2013, than Leigh Adams was in 2010.
  2. I'd love to know how much sponsors contribute. I'd be amazed if it's more than about £10,000 per company, per season.
  3. How would limiting the league to only British riders make it more competitive? There would be a massive disparity between the better riders like Woffinden, Harris and Nicholls and the National League juniors who you would need to make up the numbers. It would also put a huge financial strain on young riders, who can currently race in the National League using largely an amateur set-up, but they would need a costly professional set-up to race in the same league as the top British riders.
  4. I would also rather see 15 heats of good racing, but a lot of people would rather see massive home wins and a different set of people will only pay to see the top riders.
  5. The problem is, crowds do turn up when Holder, Ward and Woffinden are in town. They don't turn up when Eastbourne and Belle Vue are riding.
  6. Makes speedway what? Even though ever team starts with the same points limit, it is fairly obvious which teams will come out top at the end of the season. Makes you wonder if the points limit isn't part of the problem, rather than part of the solution.
  7. Many PL clubs include a free racecard with attendance, however a programme in the EL is an extra £2.50-3.00
  8. Gary confirmed he wasn't representing Swindon at the AGM, but didn't answer the question about his ownership status. I assume he is still joint owner and still still listed as a promoter alongside Rosco on the Swindon site.
  9. Do you have any evidence of this, as crowd sizes when Holder, Ward and Woffinden are in town says otherwise?
  10. a) Morris is on a very attractive average and if the points limit is as low as is being suggested, then I wouldn't be surprised if Poole got their chequebook out. Morris is one of the few Swindon assets worth anything and Swindon need the money c) Morris probably wouldn't mind being paid in 2014 as well.
  11. I wouldn't be surprised to see Nick Morris at Poole in 2014.
  12. You guys must be new to speedway. When has a weakening of the league ever been reflected in a reduction in admission?
  13. I wish i shared your optimism. Do you think fans will really pay 17 quid to watch six Premier League riders plus one heat leader?
  14. I wonder if Manchester City Council are "doing a Sky" and waiting to see what the Elite League will look like going forwards before borrow £4m to build a new stadium for Belle Vue speedway?
  15. It's not just about being able to beat a certain rider, it's about having someone you can rely on to take tactical ride and win heats 13 and 15 week-in, week-out, without crumbling under the pressure.
  16. Would you be happy with King as your number 1 next season?
  17. BT Sport are spending an estimated £1bn a year, so will need around 5m subscribers to break even. If they are not in that ball park of subscribers and new broadband customers by the end of next year, there will be an awful lot of pressure to pull the plug.
  18. I don't think that means anything. If the EL is significantly weakened in 2014 then King is on a very awkward average of 7.46. He isn't a #1 by any stretch of the imagination, but he would effectively be on a #1's average.
  19. And I don't think the person whose front lawn it belongs to will be very happy either.
  20. At the end of last season there were 138 individual riders in the EL and PL. That means there would be a "shortage" of 23 riders in a combined league. I'm not sure there are enough NL riders and foreigners to fill that gap. On the other hand, 23 teams of six riders each equals 138 riders!
  21. That is actually a really interesting idea. Maybe reduce teams to six riders if there aren't enough to go around?
  22. What passes for "Elite" nowadays - and that team could be 2 and a half points OVER the points limit, if it's set at 38? God help us all.
