Major Gp Sponsorship Announcement

Much as I try to support companies who sponsor speedway, you cannot beat Schindler's Lifts -
Despite all those players, the best we achieved was one semi final. However, the point I am making is that England have qualified for the last five WCs, despite foreigners "flooding" the leagues and qualification being arguably harder now than in the 70s, when there were less foreigners in the England leagues AND we failed to make the WC finals twice. The suggestion that limiting foreigners will improve English standards has no foundation in fact.

It makes me laugh when they use the excuse about having a competitive national team, all the while forgetting to mention that England have been rubbishe for nearly 50 years.

There are plenty of FIM meetings which have to be held somewhere. Large stadiums come with large overheads, so hosting a meeting that will only attract 2-3,000 doesn't make much commercial sense.

How so? If you look at the high res plan, I can count about 500 parking spaces. Clearly they are not expecting large crowds.

If there was one big league, it would have to be at Premier League level, so not GP riders for a start. -
I'm not that amazed by Poole. Holder and Janowski both have the distraction of the GPs, Watt is no heat leader, Gomolski was very hit and miss at Swindon and their reserves are mediocre.
-
I was very impressed with Nick and Kyle, especially the latter holding off Pedersen, Schlein and Walasek in heat 16. Suddenly starting to feel a great deal more optimistic about the season ahead.

Jesus Christ you're a glass half empty kind of guy, aren't you?

Very good singing IMO. Now Leicester just need to get their team to gel and they'll definitely be in with a play off shout.

Does it matter, as long as Darcy has a lower average than the rider being replaced. 17.4.2 A Teams combined MA for the top 5 positions must not exceed 34.00 points nor include more than 2 x Riders, whose MA exceeds 7.00 or 2 Doubling-Up Riders (satisfying the same conditions as for the initial Team Declaration) when re-declared, either permanently or temporarily, except where the MA of the introduced Rider is equal to, or lower than the Rider being replaced. Only Riders with a lower EDR Grading may be re-declared for the #6 or #7 positions.

Plenty of good options out there for Leicester. I strong third heatleader would definitely put them in contention for a play-off place IMO.

Why? There is a massive amount of stuff marketed at the up to 30 demographic. Computer games, DVDs, boozing etc. Speedway would have to compete with all those to attract people in that age range. Coupled with the fact that younger peeople tend to have less disposable income. Over 40s on the other hand have better incomes, more free time and you could argue that less things are "aimed" at them. In fact there are very few activities which specifically target older age groups. The other main problem with trying to attract younger crowds is that you will arguably alienate older supporters. Youngsters want banging dubstep, flashing lights and twerking, I'm not sure that would go down with speedway regulars.

Riders Gardening At The Tapes
MattK replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The regulations state: 9.4.2 The track at the Starting Gate area must be must be uniformly graded Woffinden playing about with a spade clearly meant the gates were not "uniformly graded" and therefore, as said, the referee should have ordered them to be re-graded by the track staff. -
Arguably, over 40s have far more disposable income than youngsters. Also, most people who run speedway are over 40 themselves, so have much more in common with that market and are more likely to understand their tastes and preferences.
-
It is kind of strange that speedway tries to target itself at a younger market and encourage kids, when it is clear it's real target markets should be older people.
-
Maybe this site does not represent an accurate cross-section of people who attend speedway?

How often are engine capacities tested for example?
-
It would be very interesting to know how often bikes are scrutinised and to what level.
-
How much would it cost to get speedway going again? The last time I went there was for the short-track which was 2012 and the pits looks pretty wrecked, there was a tractor parted in the forth bend bar and the terracing on the third and forth bends looks ready to be condemned. And that was three years ago! Obviously, the main grandstand was still usable and it would be suitable if you're only looking at crowds of up to 500 (which would be OK for NL level) and you could have a make shift pits area in the second bend/back straight (as they did for the short-track).
