Exactly. The developers know this, the MP knows this. Even if they only build 200 of the 450 houses, they stand to make around £20m in profits. Sit tight for a few years, close the Abbey, speedway falls out of favour (like in Reading and Oxford) and then re-apply for planning permission for the remaining houses, plus the land that was designated for the proposed stadium.
-
They are not restricted on how many houses they can build, they are restricted on hire many they can occupy.

Let's play Fantasy Speedway Team for a few months before we start having to play Fantasy Speedway Stadium!

Leicester riding on a Saturday doesn't seem to have adversely effected his league or GP form this year. At the end of the day it comes down to money. Leicester will break the bank to sign Doyle as they don't really have an alternative #1 and they have far more financial clout than we do.
-
There are only three riders in the league with an average over eight. "Top" riders are now averaging around 7-ish, therefore if you want to spread those riders equally around clubs that's the benchmark where the rule needs to be set.
-
Why would it be dropped if there's a dearth of riders? The rule is designed to stop clubs hoovering up all the top talent. If anything the rule is likely to be reduced in line with a drop in the team building limit to 32. Say it is reduced to "two over 6.5", only two clubs, Poole and Swindon, wouldn't comply with their existing line-ups. The questions we have to ask ourselves are "why would Doyle leave Leicester" and "why would Leicester let Doyle leave"?

Do you think they had any intention of every building the racino? It seems to be as if they would have got on with it as soon as Smallmead closed if they really wanted a new stadium.

There are a number of restrictions in place from the planning permission: For example, meetings can be held on Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays only - 18:00 to 22:30 There shall be no more than 43 meetings during the main season of which no more than 25 meetings will be held on Fridays and no more than 18 meetings on Wednesdays or Saturday There shall be 7 hours of practice sessions 3 of which will be Sundays (main season) or Saturdays (out of season). The practice sessions shall start no later than 12:00 (midday) and finish no later than 18:00. -
Don't forget, Terry Russell has been trying to sell his stake in Swindon for years. Maybe this would be a convenient get out clause and allow him to cash in his assets?
-
It's none of the fans business Trees, as Terry Russell reminded us in recent interview. We should believe whatever flannel the clubs comes out with and should dare not questions them. What's the point? He'll just feed you the same old spin and inaccuracies that you have already posted earlier in this thread.

Let's be clear, the wording of the restriction is this: The Owners covenant and agrees not to permit more than two hundred (200) Residential Units to be Occupied until a contract for the construction of the New Stadium has been entered into. This is my opinion is very vaguely worded. Entering into a contract, especially with a "friendly" builder, is no guarantee of the stadium being built, but presumably unlocks the developers from this clause and allows them to sell additional houses.

National Speedway Stadium Opening Tickets Now On Sale

Hosting these events at the "National Stadium" implies revenue well be shared among all clubs. Will this be the case or will it all go to Belle Vue? -
It was supposed to go to arbitration at the start of the season. I wonder if Leicester are holding out till the end of the season hoping to get him cheap in a fire sale?

Elite League 2016 - What Is Required?
MattK replied to 1 valve's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Looking at the number of teams who have ridden with guests and R/R this season, something has to be done. I think the leagues agreeing to race on different nights would be beneficial for all (PL teams suffer from missing riders due to doubling-up/draft, as much as EL teams) and is very simple to implement if promoters are willing. -

That's the kind of self-serving attitude we love to hear. Maybe you could sit on the BPSA? -
Squads (why They Wont Work)
MattK replied to heathen chemistry's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
comes down to logistics. Pedersen has bikes, mechanics and a van on the continent, so it is easy to move them between Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Czech Rep and so on. If you want to ride in Britain, you need bikes, a mechanic and a van in Britain. Theses all cost money, which is why riders need regular racing to make it pay. -
Morris, Milik and Cook are all heatleaders by virtue of being in the top three of their team's average and therefore having to ride in the tougher hearleader positions. Morris and Milik were even signed as heatleaders, whereas Cook has earned his position by moving up over the course of the season.

There's nothing to stop clubs signing short term replacements, rather than relying on guests and R/R -

Wolves don't have dogs on a Wednesday according to this: http://www.monmoredogs.co.uk/when-we-race/race-days-and-times/ Coventry, Lakeside and Leicester are just as affected by teams turning up with guests and R/R (if not more so riding on Fri/Sat) so what they gain by riding at the weekend they lose out on by fans being turned off by teams turning up with half their riders missing. -
Squads (why They Wont Work)
MattK replied to heathen chemistry's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It works in Sweden/Poland/Denmark as you can ride on the continent with one set of bikes, mechanics and van. If you want to ride in Britain you need another set of bikes, mechanic, van etc. so riders need a guaranteed income to make it viable. That's why the squad should be made up of riders with an average below your #7 and if a rider is missing everyone steps up a position in the team and a squad member comes in at reserve. -

There are 39 riders on the draft list which don't have an EL team. There's your squads. -

MattK replied to 1 valve's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Here's my idea for the draft system in 2016: I'd like to keep the draft tiers as they are this season, but revert back to the old heat format, so draft riders are no longer protected and they get a proper average by riding all opposition riders. This will allow tier one riders to join make 1-5 in 2017 and tier to riders to step up and so on. -

I don't believe with the choice of three race nights all clubs can't be accommodated. Similarly, PL clubs already race in a Sunday, so this shouldn't introduce any additional problems. The alternative is promoters burying their heads in the sand and continuing with three or four guests and R/R while crowds dwindle. -
I think it's down to availability. Sedgmen would have missed four of our final eight meetings, whereas Summers is available for all of them.

I don't believe PL teams are happy, as they have as many guests as we do due to doubling-up and draft riders missing meetings. EL Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, PL Friday, Saturday and Sunday should require the minimum number of race night changes.
