  1. I disagree. Fans would travel to see Pedersen, Hancock, Sayfutdinov etc riding in the UK. I think the biggest challenge would be persuading the Polish teams to travel to England with all the equipment to race here. In terms of benefit to the Poles, the most obvious would be a potential TV deal for their league in Britain.
  2. If you look at the current plans for 420 houses, then the space allocated for the stadium is roughly half the size, so 200 would be my estimate.
  3. The Stadium is £67,000, the market £100,000 and the training school £2,850 Much less than what 200 houses would pay in council tax. https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/view-my-valuation/list-valuations-by-postcode?postcode=SN25+4DN&startPage=1#search-results
  4. I think the reduction is 2.5% for any rider who has ridden in the National League
  5. I think he has been told it by one of the many people who have repeated it as fact. Yet despite asking both representatives of Swindon speedway, the council and our local MP, no one has been able to produce this clause in writing.
  6. Because councils are utterly incompetent? I don't know about where you live, but mine struggle to empty the bins twice a week.
  7. Or... we could just host the events at different tracks. Which also has the benefit of attracting more fans who live outside of the immediate Manchester area.
  8. The host venue gets up to 50% of the revenue depending on the event.
  9. No. The National Speedway Stadium is just clever marketing tactic. Why should Belle Vue benefit from all those meetings at the expense of other clubs who need the revenue just as much?
  10. I'd like to see that in writing. Lots of people have said it but no one seems to be able to provide evidence that it actually exists as part of the planning permission.
  11. Elite League: http://www.speedwaygb.co/files/downloads/el16_issue_30.pdf You need to use column C if they have one Premier League: http://www.speedwaygb.co/files/downloads/pl16_issue_33.pdf
  12. Mike Bowden says it will be max 2 per club. Doesn't say if this is Premiership or Championship club though. Either way, this will make team building very interesting, as most "loyal" riders are likely to want to ride in both leagues. I predict a LOT of foreigners in the Premiership this year making up the numbers.
  13. Is that right? If you look at the documents (such here) it says the stadium costs comes from Prudential Borrowing, which is a mechanism for local authorities to borrow money for infrastructure projects. Therefore MCC have the debt and presumably interest on the cost of the stadium, whether it is utilised or not.
  14. I think a lot of teams will gamble with a 3-pointer in order to gain some more strength at the top end. It will be sink or swim for a lot of junior riders.
  15. Who knows? Given that even Chris Harris was suggesting he'd like to double-up and he could potentially be a Premiership #1, there is a very real possibility that a full Premiership team could want to double-up. Of course, fixed race nights would help alleviate clashes, but this doesn't seem to have been discussed at the AGM.
  16. How about: Jonsson (11.83) King (9.57) Grajczonek (8.90) Woryna (6.51) Roynon (5.05) Bates (5.02) 3-pointer 49.88
  17. How about: Scott Nicholls (9.23) Rohan Tungate (9.03) Davey Watt (7.56) Paul Starke (6.62) Charles Wright (6.59) Todd Kurtz (5.76) Bradley Dean Wilson (5.02) 49.81
  18. How about something like: Hans Andersen (10.01) Kim Nilsson (9.63) Kennett (9.27) Robson (7.09) K Lykke Nielsen (5.16) Branford (4.60) Morley (3.85) 49.61
  19. The points limit is just under 36 in "old money".
  20. Harris 9.27 Nicholls 9.23 Masters 8.88 Lambert 8.76 Klindt 5.42 Clegg 4.04 Bewley 4 49.6
  21. I also assume they will be subject to the confession, but they won't be frozen out, as the points limit will be 50 for the whole season.
  22. All teams would be in the same boat though, with seven or eight points to pay with. They well either drop the team building limit to 42 after the first set of greensheets or more likely retain the 1.4 multiplier for team building purposes.
  23. Correct, I was looking at the wrong column. Still a bargain though!
  24. I think the doubling-up rule will be crucial. Playing around with some line-ups, most EL teams will have four or five riders who'll likely want to double up.
