Who knows what Jacobs would be like now on return. What about the big top four with Danny Ayres and a choice of two from Arthur Sissis (3.71) Robert Branford (3.40) and Jan Graverson (3.83). Dimitri Bergé would have fitted nicely with Branford but I can't see him returning without big apologies all round. No doubt someone will post saying why we can't have any of the above. Did I read somewhere that Sissis wouldn't make the beginning of the season?.......memory's going.

If they did in fact research supporters' views, I wonder how rigourously they went about it? Surely they are not being reliant on a hand out questionnaire or an on-line survey. How easy it would have been to organise a vote during admission to any meeting this year. (Obviously not at a meeting against Edinburgh)

What MD said. Plus I wouldn't like to go down the road of having two low average reserves. I think it's been well proven that having good reserves, or at least one, is a crucial part of team building. We don't know, of course, what the format is going to be for next year with all this talk of fast tracking from the National League. Best wait till after the promotors' meeting I suppose.

Bringing them in one at a time from gate one works at Glasgow
-
Robert Dickson, ex starting marshal at Glasgow, adhered to this proper method of starting for years and I'm glad to say his successor Hugh McNeilly does likewise. It really does make a difference compared to many other tracks I visit and see on the telly. A good few riders don't like it.......but it works providing the marshal is persistent.

Which Rider Have You Never Taken To?
ragdoll64 replied to phillipsr's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Quite a long list then. I'm with you on that one. Oh, and Ben Barker. (like his riding though) -
Ok. I'll just have to bow to all the experts
-
Nonsense. Once the momentum is up on flat, smooth full throttle tracks, there's little chance of gaining on your opponent unless he's a lesser rider who happens to have made the gate or he makes a mistake which is less likely on a flat, smooth full throttle track.
-
That's why you walk the track. Spot these thinks. Don't put your wheel over the line at Stoke. Adjust your gearing and use your throttle and head at Rye. Switch on your landing lights at Poole etc. etc. Boring if all tracks were flat and smooth and would lead to more gate and go.

Stewart has shown in the past that he is one of the best tactical managers in speedway and if anyone can get the best out of a team , he can, look at the difference he made when he joined the team at the end of last season, immediate improvement , shame it was too late to make a difference to position in the league Aye, he has proper passion. A great team manager and if anyone can get them going, he can. It was a pure loss when he wasn't well but great to have him back from the off this year.
-
Not the strongest but certainly not the weakest. Doesn't have the best potential for increased averages as some teams do but then we all know speedway, it doesn't take account of how teams look on paper. I'd expect increases from Anders and Joey and that could be the up side to an already fairly solid side. Definitely don't think we'll be anywhere near wooden spooners.

Is Josef Franc still a no-no for Glasgow due to other commitments? Cause that would be a good finish to the team along with Joey Ringwood or A.N.Other IMO.
-
...........unless, we're also signing Max Dilger instead of Joey Ringwood which would take us up to a full 42.50 I'm getting a bit carried away now, so I'll shut up for a while.
-
Oh I do so hope what you're hinting at ain't true
-
Is that not how it's always done??? If a promotion is aiming to sign someone but they're snapped up by another team, do they not move on to the next preferred rider?
-
Vissing 6.89 as against Wethers 6.79 - not really that much difference Heather. I'd be happy with either. Problem is if it's neither of them then it would be a wee bit harder to utilise the remaining points efficiently with the remaining riders if Joey does indeed sign. Unless, of course, there's another surprise looming.
-
Either Vissing or Wethers would be good.
-
I don't regard it as being an obsession or a must and as Paulco says, it's not the be all and end all. It would just be nice for these meetings (how many?) to be about closer racing and healthy rivalry to get the punters interested again.
-
I see where you're coming from but I honestly think higher scoring reserves are key to better team performances. Too often we've been let down in this department. For your benefit as well as ours. Or do you enjoy drubbings as opposed to close racing?
