  1. Can't believe no one's brought this subject up on here but Glasgow Speedway have announced that there will no longer be concession prices for over 65s, stating financial loss as a reason. An abominable decision in my opinion, to penalise the very people, the majority of whom will have stuck by the club through thick and thin and during previous times when it was on its knees. WRONG WRONG decision Mr Facenna. I reckon this will come back and bite you on the bum. .......and for all those who back the decision on social media saying it is a small price to pay, I wonder if they would feel the same if that £3.50 had been added to their last year's entry price making it £21 admission? I, for one, will still be attending as speedway is my favourite sport and has been since 1964........but I'm afraid, in protest, I will no longer by buying a programme at £3, a fifty-fifty draw ticket at £1 and food & drink around the value of £5. I know I will be slated on here for taking this decision and will be seen to be damaging the club even more but I feel so strongly about it after supporting, and contributing to, the Tigers for so many years. What other sport or entertainment throughout the country doesn't have concessions for older people? Can't imagine very many. I think Glasgow Speedway should seriously rethink this decision and consider other options. A small increase would have been acceptable......but not this. Im very angry.
  2. Who gloried in it?..........it was just a statement. I think the next bit showed that I was doing anything but glorying in it.
  3. Now that the team is complete, I find it hard to envisage this lot being beaten around Ashfield. I only hope, now that there's no longer tactical rides, that we're not going to see a series of monumental drubbings here on a Friday night. I remember only too well in the sixties some meetings being over in the first half.............not good to watch. Sounds like I'm moaning, but I'm not.........I'm really looking forward to next year and watching this very fresh team.
  4. Like you MD, I'm a bit worried about another 2 point reserve. I thought lessons had been learned. If Sargeant remains fit we should be ok but if out with injury....oh dear. I've seen Claus Vissing have some brilliant rides and I used to rate him highly and thought he was really going places but he kinda levelled out and can run hot and cold. I had hoped for Kyle Newman as he was flying before his injury and made gradual improvement last year after his recovery. If Claus rides consistently to his ability though, we should be very strong......except for the vulnerable reserve part.
  5. Don't know the politics involved.....but I, for one, am disappointed he's not back.
  6. Yeah, Don was an outstanding announcer.....so professional and clear. He did Glasgow in White City days as well.
  7. Eh???..........the sport survived for years and years without doubling up AND with riders working full time too AND riding just one league AND not riding abroad AND having only one bike........ The sport's become far too expensive to attract the amount of riders that it used to......AND a good deal of greed has set in too.
  8. Exclude and fine them.....they'll soon learn..................(maybe?)
  9. Indeed, and there has been this lack of continuity throughout this season. I have never known a season like it in this respect and as I've said before, it has been instrumental in undoing all the excellent work the promotion has put into recruiting new and returning fans......Sad.
  10. Has anyone thought of giving it a try WITHOUT this obsessional grading and packing of the track after heat ten which almost always seems to benefit the opposition?
  11. All the fantastic work the promotion and their helpers have done to get new punters through the turnstiles has been totally ruined by the lack of continuity of race days and start times. It's sad to see all this good work seemingly go to waste.
  12. That's who immediately came to my mind too.............have seen him absolutely outstanding in the wet.
  13. Disagree with your assessment of heat 14 MD but totally agree with your comments about the heat 10 regrading and this obsession of packing the track down at this stage of the meeting. How many times have we seen it benefitting the opposition? Surely the powers that be can see this.
  14. I was actually a bit concerned regarding the crowd levels last night. The area where I stand was certainly more sparse than usual and that's quite near the tapes on the home straight and the back straight didn't look too well populated to me either. I would have expected a failrly large attendance, this being the first Championship meeting and considering the publicity/promotion that would have gone into it. The 50/50 draw is usually a "kind of" indication of attendance figures and the winning amount was lower than usual. I really hope the Promotion haven't shot themselves in the foot by changing to a Saturday night, although I did have my reservations when it was announced. It's early days though, and only time will tell. On a different note........I did miss the "old" Tiger's antics (wonder why he's no longer there as he did such a good job?) and I thought Michael Max was a tad less enthusiastic in getting the crowd going than his "revitalized" performances of last year.
  15. Aye, and the rest of speedway is so squeaky clean................ok for oor team tae break the rules and CHEAT the fans though when it suits. Glad I'm not naieve enough to think that manipulation isnae rife throughout our sport.
  16. Because, despite his performance for Glasgow (whom I support), it is not nice to see riders who have dedicated themselves to British speedway in the past being left on the sidelines due to changes in the rules. It's just like "normal" workers being made redundant......it ain't nice. I feel for every rider who's in this position, especially since there's so much doubling up going on.
  17. Good to see Kevin Wölbert fixed up for the season.
  18. Then "going" too soon.........getting a warning........and having to start all over again......lol
  19. By far I would say. Sissies never pulled up many trees anywhere except at Glasgow and we definitely need riders who can score away from home.
  20. That's a pity Damo. I think Sooty was hoping for a clean "Sweep"..........lol
  21. Ah!.....so he's definitely our #7 then? Thanks for the heads up. Hope he goes well this weekend.
  22. Could that tie in nicely with the practice/training session on Sunday......maybe?
