  1. Can’t agree about Basso’s away performance. Hasn’t been THAT bad in the CL meetings he competed in…..11+2 (5) 9+2 (4) 6+2 (4) 8 (5) 5+3 (4) 5+1 (4) 9 (5)
  2. Methinks deep down Davie 10 would like to touch it again……….lol
  3. A fair bit of sense spoken here Fromafar……..BUT……..I’ve got to say I’ve watched a good few meetings over the years, especially in the 60’s that have been run in dreadful conditions….(sawdust and overalls come to mind) and it was not nice to watch at all. Speedway should be spectacular and if a track is really greasy it is anything but. Regarding the throttle working both ways (I hate that saying), modern bikes are totally different from old uprights and react totally differently. Try throttling off when in full flight on a bend and see where it gets you……..through the fence, that’s where. For me, it’s a very fine line between continuing with a meeting or abandoning it. I thought Sunday would have turned into a disaster had it continued and that the correct decision was made. As far as speedway being spectacular is concerned…..it was never going to be on Sunday. Having said that though…….it wasn’t yesterday either……lol
  4. You are so spot on MD……..that is certainly not a racers track as proven by what you say. We were beaten fair and square by being out gated and/or swamped on the first and second bends. After that, there are no passing lines on that God awful track. No chance of pulling that back but at least we’ll see some speedway RACING in the return leg.
  5. If they’re doing everything possible to get their full team back….then why not just call off the meeting due to impending rain instead of going through this elaborate rigmarole?…….AND……what was pulling the “magic wheel” if there was no tractor on track? We know you hate everything Glasgow…..so, should we really be listening to your opinion?
  6. So the whole thing, right from deciding to start the meeting at 6pm, was a master plan in your opinion. Conspiracy theorists???……….Jeez!
  7. …….or into Glasgow’s……. as visiting teams tend to do better in the latter stages at Ashfield. Usually after a major grading
  8. Can’t see John Campbell et al totally throwing in the towel though. Hopefully there’s some way forward that’s not apparent at the moment.
  9. Hear! Hear! ……all the very best of luck to Edinburgh in securing some sort of future………(From another Glasgow fan).
  10. Lol…….Leopards and spots….and old dogs and new tricks come to mind………
  11. Lol……I saw that after checking myself…….he DID have an off in his first outing though. Don’t know if that was the cause of his bad performance. Also, looking back, I see Starkey got 8+1 from five the last time he was there with Oxford. Ruml got 8 from seven in the same meeting………I think I’ve made my mind up now…..lol
  12. Find it hard making my mind up between Starke and Ruml if that’s the choice but I’m inclined to go with Starke, I think. No-one’s mentioned Wells though……and although his average is lower than the others, he could be a good shout at Ashfield as replacement for Danyon. I don’t know how he goes at Poole though……. Vissing was another I thought about but have been afraid to say…..lol Also……a question…….Does Ben move to no.1?…….I see his average is higher than Cookie’s
  13. ….Think we already have pit stops………..after EVERY BLOODY false start……lol
  14. Maybe you’re not reading things correctly……there was no setting light to the track at Glasgow…….
  15. After scrutinising the Defense’s singular piece of evidence…….the Prosecution rests, m’lud…….lol
  16. As you say, depends on your view point. I certainly wasn’t surprised by the decision. Before it was announced I said Basso pushed him a bit hard there……
  17. If that was your best meeting of the season, I really, really, really pity your fans. We were beaten fair and square but on a totally unexciting and initially over watered track with very few racing lines. Most of the passing was done due to racers faltering by trying to race on a rideable but non raceable track. Very poor entertainment indeed. If we were to never win any major trophies again, I would still rather watch the excellent racing at Glasgow that that which was on show tonight. No sour grapes…..just the truth as I see it.
  18. Got to say, it was very unusual for the Glasgow track to be that dusty. When our usual race day was a Sunday afternoon, although difficult, they seemed to capture it fairly well.
  19. Ah!…..that never twigged with me but I did wonder about the green machine he was riding. Thanks for the info….
  20. Entertaining meeting despite the lengthy delay…….glad I waited. Track was made good by the staff to provide some good racing…..well done. Right decision.
  21. Sad news……Wishing Monarchs all the very best in finding a new home.
  22. Madness to regrade when your riders are doing well. It’s happening time and time again that the opposition are benefitting.
  23. Sorry…..not from where I stand near the starting gate. No deliberate infringement by Harris but he cut in front of Starke leaving him no option but to lay down. Couldn’t believe the exclusion light not going on immediately and neither could the other fans around me watching from that viewpoint.
