  1. How bad did Charles Wright’s fall look last night? I see he is missing tonight for Belle Vue. At this rate we could have 4 guests and R/R on Friday!
  2. Obviously the better team won on the night, given the level of victory, but gutted to go out in the circumstances surrounding this match with only half of our own riders. That’s no disrespect to the guests, who were good choices, but you want to win or lose with your “own” team. Leaves a bitter taste the whole affair but nothing we can do about it now.
  3. So now it’s 3 Bears, 3 guests and R/R for Redcar in a match that shouldn’t be taking place at all. Welcome to British Speedway.
  4. Yes, Dan Thompson and Drew Kemp confirmed (the good old Rising Star system in full effect again) and R/R still for the Bears.
  5. Birmingham with the same 1-7 as the first match (remember that far back?) Redcar missing 2, probably 3, of the team that rode that meeting. Not sure who is guesting for Jordan Jenkins and assume it’s still R/R for Stewart.
  6. Shame no one has commented. Meeting got off to a slow start but racing improved as the night went on. Brennan a deserved winner and nice to see Redcars Drew Kemp on the rostrum. Well done to the Redcar promotion for taking this on and doing the event justice.
  7. Obviously pleased with the 4 points, especially as Charles didn’t score particularly well. Pleased to see Sarjy get some points and big thanks to Drew Kemp again. Kings too reliant on 2 riders again and feel for the fans having to see the same riders struggle every week. Hope things pick up for them, need a few home wins to keep the fans onboard.
  8. Bears using Drew Kemp and Jordan Palin as replacements for Anders Rowe and Jordan Jenkins. In the circumstances probably the best replacements available given that the 2 missing lads both have a lot of experience around Kent. Bears really need to win if they have a chance of the play offs, but no idea how some of the lads will ride the track seeing it for the first time.
  9. I think he is riding. He rode well in the semi final and was unlucky to miss out. Shame that both Bears will be missing, they would have had a good chance.
  10. Not that many though - have to get lucky with availability etc.
  11. Another blow to the Bears, Jordan Jenkins our for a while with a broken wrist. Only able to replace with a 2* rising star and he’s been riding better than that. Missing 3 of your starting 7 is not ideal.
  12. I stand corrected (said the man with the built up shoe). One exclamation mark would have been enough
  13. We have a very good and fair race track here which gives us little home track advantage, but produces very good racing as just about all opposition riders feel comfortable. Harris rides it as well as anybody and enjoyed watching Shanes and a few others really give it a good go.
  14. Heat 14 was a 5-1 to the Brummies and Kemp wasn’t in Heat 13 but apart from that glad you enjoyed the night and the racing.
  15. Well a win for the Bears, which is a relief after recent results, but a far from comfortable one. The inconsistencies, particularly out of the gate, continue and they seem to make it hard work every week. Birmingham will probably feel they could have got more than the point they did get, particularly in how Heat 13 played out, although that did allow them to bring in Harris in Heat 14 to replace the ineffective Morris, so it probably evened out. Heat 13 was controversial. From my position Charles should have been excluded in the first running, he picked up drive and took Schlein off clearly and it wasn’t first bend bunching. Re-run I think the ref was correct - Charles was ahead and headed for the dirt on turn 3 and Harris just kept it wound on and ran out of room. Throttle works both ways, as they say. Big thanks to Drew Kemp who was an excellent guest and just have a decent chance next week in the U19 final. Bears might have no riders in the lineup after Jenkins crash, which is a shame. Nielsen and Schlein were good guests for the Brummies and I thought Thomas was unlucky to only score 1, kept MPT very honest in Heat 13. Just once this year I’d like a comfortable home victory and a bit more consistency from the Bears.
  16. Charles declared himself fit so will be riding tonight.Hopefully he has made the right decision. Light showers forecast early evening but should be ok.
  17. Wright fell in his first ride tonight and withdrawn from the rest of the meeting. Must be a major doubt for tomorrow now. Bears having a rough time of it at the moment.
  18. If Kemp rides as well for us as he did against us, I’ll be very happy. Good practice for him for the British U19 final too.
  19. Forecast showery rain from mid afternoon tomorrow. Hopefully not like last week where the rain affected the track early on. Need a home win but it’s been hard with R/R. Lots of teams riding tomorrow which has limited our choice of guest for Anders.
  20. By that way of thinking a first leg of a KOC can never be awarded to any team as any score could occur in the second leg. That’s not in the rules. Even if there is only 1 race left you would have to re-run the meeting by that logic. If Heat 10 had been run the meeting could have been awarded by the current rules (assuming they are applied in a logical manner) Heat 10 was delayed by the crash where Jordan Stewart was injured and Birmingham would have had 1 rider therefore a 3-3 was the best the Brummies could realistically get. Bears would still have been 10 points up (at least). Add to that the delay to the meeting caused by Birmingham’s inability to get the track prepared in time and the fact meetings have previously been awarded after 9 races when the result wasn’t mathematically certain and you can see why Redcar are not happy.
  21. Decided to watch the footage as a neutral, as others have commented on it. Should carry a warning about flashing images (and that was just the way it was edited!) All the important first bend action missed sadly.
  22. Now I know why the thread title didn’t state it was July 7th 2021, best to leave it open given how things have been going. Obviously the right decision but as others have said a bit of forward thinking would have prevented the further messing around of Redcar fans planning to attend in particular. Cynically I wonder if Riss’s Injury played a part in the decision too. So we await yet another new date for a fixture that shouldn’t have been re-run anyway.
  23. It’s almost as if you know what you’re talking about ;)
  24. Well done to the Eagles on a fully deserved win. Solid throughout the team and never really looked like losing. If a visiting rider is short on confidence, get him to Redcar and it’ll all come flooding back ( Edward Kennett I’m looking at you!) Heavy shower before the start made the track very soggy, particularly early on, and passing was almost impossible, making gating paramount and the Eagles consistently were much quicker to the first bend. 10 points down after 5 heats was too big a deficit to pull back. The Bears just had one of those nights - Charles had a retirement and two nasty looking falls, MPT had bike issues when in 2nd in his first ride but was superb after that. Rowe took a nasty tumble and looked to have damaged his shoulder, Sarjeant and Jenkins had falls too. R/R not working for the Bears and they’ve been too inconsistent. Still some excellent racing in a few heats when the track dried out but disappointed in how the meeting started from a Bears perspective.
  25. Agree it should be a close meeting. Bizarre situation where Anders moves to reserve in the Championship after moving up into the Top 5 with his Premiership team.Hopefully will help him increase his scores, although he’s up against good reserves tonight.
