  1. Well not sure where you looked but Redcar Bears twitter gave the Bears line up 5 hours ago. R/R for Riss.
  2. Obviously a good time to ride against a weakened Bandits team but still a good performance from the Bears. PS if we could have Berwick Kasper every week the Bears would be a threat to anyone.
  3. I was pronouncing it like that in my head, honestly! Give me a T!!!
  4. “That’s five lovely points for your Tiger boys” Also worked at Ayresome Park so we got a double dose of his presenting voice growing up. RIP Bernard Gent - you will be fondly remembered by many.
  5. He made a really good gate in first run of heat 2 before it was stopped when Stoneman fell off (on his own, very lucky to be allowed back in imo) then missed the gate every other race.
  6. Yes, very odd decision. We all thought Jenkins was ahead too.
  7. Another excellent meeting at the Ecco arena with some fantastic racing. Kerr and Riss produced some fabulous round the boards passes and there were plenty of cracking races. Knudsen looks a great prospect - fast and stylish.
  8. Yet another poor start by the Bears away from home, and against a strong Glasgow team that’s asking for trouble. Bears aren’t a bad team , second strings are a bit weak but the main issue is inconsistency, not many meetings where all the riders have contributed.
  9. I know, I nearly became owner of Newcastle speedway earlier.
  10. It was also a much better meeting than the scoreline suggests, with some absolutely cracking races. Hope it’s not the last we have seen of the Diamonds but reading this thread things look pretty bleak in that regard.
  11. Bears still riding against the Diamonds on Friday, just been announced that a challenge match has been arranged. Hopefully see a good number of Diamonds fans there.
  12. Sad but inevitable, looking on from the outside it seemed like the only outcome. The situation always seemed perilous and to try and run a season with the team assembled was a recipe for disaster.
  13. Dislocated his shoulder not broke his collarbone. You would never have known watching his last rides.
  14. A closer meeting than I expected, Bears inconsistency on show again. Track caught a few out but produced some good racing in the end. Bears threw away a few points with falls and bike problems but Oxford deserved something out of the meeting. Wright back to near his best and Riss very good too. For Oxford, Nicholl’s good value and Ruml was excellent, some excellent outside passes.
  15. Good meeting in the end with some cracking races as the meeting went on. Bears deserved the point I think but gave themselves too much to do after a slow start.
  16. It’s been re-scheduled with about 5 days notice, due to a lack of volunteers. (That’s the official reason given). To compare it to the other issues we have seen this year is ridiculous. You aren’t going to attend because it’s on a different date?
  17. Thought about going but even as a Bears fan I’m glad I didn’t. Pleased to get the 4 points and see the young lads scoring so well but can’t take much pleasure seeing a team (even your local rivals) struggle from one disaster to another.
  18. Andersen was atrocious out of the gate in most of his rides and gave himself too much to do. Thought he actually looked pretty quick once he got going but his style makes it difficult for him to pass people. Solid performance from the rest of the team, Charles a bit down from his usual standard but still a decent return and the other heat leaders rode well. Win would have been bigger probably if Riss hadn’t broken down at the start of one of his rides. Reserves were excellent and good to see Jason Edwards becoming an asset. Roynon was much better tonight and if he can ride like that every week no one will have any complaints. Berwick were 2 man team really so was going to be a struggle for them. Proctor showed some flashes but it’s sad to see how far he’s gone back. Hopefully 12 points is enough.
  19. Well I paid for the stream but , quite frankly, wish I hadn’t. Not a reflection on the stream itself, which was excellent, but the dreadful performance from the Bears against a weakened Monarchs line up. A 3 man team (one of those was a guest reserve) can’t win a meeting. Allen was a very poor guest, disappointed Edwards (after his spell at Edinburgh last year) seemed so far off the pace and the least said about Roynon and Andersen the better. Not even competitive. Pickering aside, no one looked like passing anyone and most races were settled by the end of the first lap. Bears gating was generally appalling and they were way behind after turn 2. Bears deserved nothing from the meeting.
