  1. Been dry all day but the latest forecast has some drizzle around 7 lasting for a while.
  2. Bears have changed the riding order apparently. Hume at 2 and Bailey at 4.
  3. Weather forecast (at least the one I use) has improved so things looking more positive.
  4. They could have done, but they didn't mention him. The comments about Jenkins being part of their plans came directly from the promotion at Redcar when the team was revealed.
  5. Two wrongs don't make a (W)right or is it too many Cooks? Anyway, sorry for any confusion.
  6. If it is on, it’s Lawson for Riss and Zach Cook for Wright.
  7. First time it was mentioned on the match thread, the issue of Jenkins going to Oxford and the circumstances around it have been discussed on other Redcar threads.
  8. Which is exactly the point that Berry9 raised in his first post. The fact nothing was done is the major bone of contention. This is not the first time this has been raised on the forum, so it’s not just a reaction to the result. I have no insider knowledge on anything but the Redcar promotion made it clear in the Q&A session before the season started that Jenkins would have been part of this years team at Redcar.
  9. I think we had a lucky escape not being able to watch , not just in the fact the Bears were soundly beaten, but the racing seemed pretty processional, if the updates are to be believed. 3 riders taking 10 rides and scoring 2 points (and not defeating an opposition rider) is very, very poor. Hume scored 13+1 for Glasgow last year at Oxford, so it’s hugely frustrating. Bailey and Hume are less experienced but expected much better. Be glad when Riss is back but you can’t compete with only 4 riders. A very poor start to the league campaign.
  10. Pity there is no stream as this looks like it could be a decent meeting.
  11. Not much mention of the Bears performance last night, which I can understand given the poor performance by the home team, but Wright and King had a couple of great days and nice to see Hume chipping in with a good score. If we can get Bailey and Mulford going it would be a really strong team.
  12. Shame there isn’t a stream for this one. Hope it’s a safe meeting for all the riders.
  13. Well my prediction from earlier was about right, as the Bears second strings were too inconsistent and poor Jake Mulford has yet to score a point at home. Having said that it was pleasing to see the Bears fight back from (another) slow start and actually win the meeting on the night. For Scunthorpe - Douglas and Tofty were good, Allen a bit unlucky not to score more and everyone contributed. They deserved the aggregate point over the 2 matches. Has some good craic with some Scorpions fans on the back straight too. For Redcar - Charles was back to his very best and King rode really well until Heat 15 . Lawson got better as the meeting went on and Edwards scored well. The other 3 lads need to score a few more points but it wasn’t from lack of effort. Seemed like a good crowd too which is good to see.
  14. Tough for the Bears to win this let alone pull back the 10 points. Scunthorpe have 3 ex Bears and Ryan Douglas and second strings who have all done well at Redcar in the past. Bears will need Hume, Bailey and the reserves to chip in to win this one.
  15. Yup, he was Brummies best rider tonight although in all honesty that’s not really saying much. Morris was ok and Pearson had a couple of recent rides but the Bears won comfortably without riding that well really. Worrying signs for the Brummies. Lawson was excellent and nice to see Mulford get a win and a couple of points in other rides. Expected more from Hume but can’t really complain about a convincing away win. Not a lot of good racing, can only really remember Baileys pass, but the stream worked well and hopefully is worthwhile for them.
  16. Charles Wright never got the message. Won the toss and took 1 and 3.
  17. Glad to see Birmingham offering streaming now, I’ll be watching if the meetings on.
  18. Comfortable win for the Scorpions with the Bears carrying too many riders. Douglas was excellent and Tofty looked good too. They will be a strong team this year, especially at home. Wright excellent for the Bears and King, Edwards battled hard. Second strings need to contribute more if the Bears are to compete away from home. Watched the stream which was excellent, what the commentary lacked in slickness it made up for in enthusiasm. Some fantastic racing - 5 or 6 superb heats. Great racetrack.
  19. Apparently Charles Wright is feeling ok this morning and is riding , but Riss is unwell so Sedgmen guests at 1.
  20. Already been announced as Proctor hasn’t it? Stoneman replacing Mulford for the Bears.
  21. He fell off on the practice lap they do a few minutes before the parade. Didn’t see him come off but he was limping and being attended to by the paramedics for a few minutes.
  22. Solid team display with the second strings chipping in with points and Edwards riding like a man possessed until he (understandably) tired towards the end. Scary looking crash for Mulford in Heat 2, ploughing into the fence at high speed and fortunate it wasn’t more serious. Bandits looked short on practice and it didn’t bode well when Flint took a tumble on his practice lap. Schlein was excellent and Jorgensen had flashes but not much else. Not a lot of good races on a slick track but given the recent weather just glad to have some speedway to watch.
  23. No rain since sometime yesterday (I’m a few miles from the track so can’t say exactly when it last rained there) and dry and occasionally sunny here, no rain forecast. Not that warm so not a great drying day. The ground generally is still very wet, but hopefully we should be ok.
  24. Dry here at the moment after some rain this morning and the forecast (at the moment) has some light rain due tomorrow afternoon. Had a fair bit of rain the last few days but, like Boothers, I havf no idea what state the track is in. If the meeting does go ahead then be interesting to see what sort of performance we get from both sides. Bears heatleaders looked great last week but the second strings struggled a bit. Hopefully the laps they did last week will benefit their scores this week. First meeting for a few of the Berwick lads so not sure what level of performance to expect from them. Would hope the Bears take a big enough lead upto Berwick to progress.
  25. Decent enough meeting to start the season. Amazingly the track was pretty slick and dusty even after the poor recent weather so only a few good races. Bears top 3 looked good but the new lads found it tough going early on but will be better for the run out. Jake Mulford was really poor out of the gate all night but had plenty of speed but needed a more productive outside line to get on the scoresheet. A fair few Diamonds fans in attendance and a solid team effort from all their lads.
