  1. A good crowd on the island last night, for the last meeting of the holiday season. What looked like a close match early doors, changed with bad luck affecting both sides. Let's hope there is a strong NL for the warriors to compete in next year, and it stops being the poor relation of the sport.
  2. Western warriors & Kent crusaders from 1994.
  3. Lakeside could potentially have nine home meetings to fit in before the end of the season. I don't see how this is going to be possible, given the difficulty is securing race nights during the last couple of months. Maybe a few double headers could be on the cards, but this has rarely happened in the past at Arena. There are rumours of some 'home' matches being staged at Rye, I wish the promotion would confirm or deny this, to put us out of our misery.
  4. Has anybody got the riding order for the 1953 Laurels at Wimbledon. Thanks
  5. He's riding on the island tomorrow as well.
  6. They have rode 2 there already this season.
  7. Lakeside host Peterborough at home in the ko cup on 29/9. I presume this meeting will be staged at Arena Essex, unless someone knows something I don't.
  8. I think the promoters at rye House ruffled some feathers at the old Boys club, so they were never going to get any favours.
  9. Last night at Kent, the first ten heats where run in 37 minutes!. I know they got a move on to accommodate the Ben fund collection, but it shows what can be done.
  10. Some of the racing last night was fantastic, considering the track was a 'disgrace'
  11. Excellent meeting tonight with some fantastic racing. The clashes between hurry and shanes were superb.
  12. Spooner not fully fit, I fancy the brummies to nick a point. Bacon and shanes are usually excellent at central park.
  13. Me too, and my first visit was in 1972. My mate who lives locally to the track told me, that stock car meetings regularly go past 10pm.
  14. There will be a big crowd there tonight, so get there early. Last week's attendance against Plymouth was excellent for NL racing.
  15. From a personal point of view, I've never liked 2nd halves. I used to watch them as a kid at Wembley and Wimbledon, but I found them boring. I'd like speedway to be like football, done and dusted in 90 minutes.
  16. Just Kent now. The IOW match has been put back a couple of weeks.
  17. Georgie Wood is a very lucky boy to escape without any serious injuries. His heat 15 crash with Danny Ayres was a real nasty one. It was mentioned at the time of the incident, that Eastie had a curfew. Is this a new ruling, because i've seen plenty of meetings go past 10pm there in the past.
  18. Rye House is an unlicensed track. Until that changes, I can't see how any professional Speedway meetings can be staged there.
  19. I was at Eastbourne tonight where an awful crash during heat 15 led to another meeting abandoned. Best wishes to both Dan Bewley and Georgie Wood.
  20. It's hard to argue with that. I attended my first meeting as a wee lad at Wimbledon in September 1968, so I am fast approaching my 50th anniversary as a fan. There have been highs and lows throughout this period, but this season, without a doubt, has been the worst ever for me.
  21. The promoters can say the meeting is on, but the final decision is with the riders. For that reason I never intended to hand over the money until the two minute warning went on. With such a fragmented And unreliable fixture list, who knows when the next home meeting will be. Rob Godfrey might have a BBQ planned for the 14th, so that one might be binned as well.
