  1. To be fair, the axe has been hanging over Arena Essex for years. I always approached recent seasons thinking it could be the last. The failure to finish the season at purfleet, was the most disappointing thing for me.
  2. I wouldn't hold your breath. Spedeworth imposed a hefty rent rise on Mildenhall this year. There are no free lunches on stadium landlords.
  3. Would you buy one if you had the conkers, i know i wouldn't. It's equivalent to a one way ticket on the Titanic.
  4. In this climate of uncertainty, who would buy a speedway club.
  5. I think BMR upset the old boys club. When you do that, there is only one winner.
  6. Are you employed by BMR, you seem to defend everything they do. Ranging from stadium facilities to rider payments. Go and ask them if the riders have been paid.
  7. Rye House were forced from their traditional saturday nights to the graveyard wednesdays. Add this to the reduction in TV money, it's not hard to see how they ran into difficulties.
  8. Why would developers buy a site that was totally unsuitable to be built on. All very strange. Perhaps they are playing the long game.
  9. Go read his october interview and find out for yourself.
  10. I think a lot of riders are used to it. The crowds are so low at a lot of tracks, cash flow must be a common problem.
  11. Harris stated in an interview he was owed for nine meetings by the Rye House promotion. That interview is in the public domain. That is why i mentioned it. It's not that hard to understand, is it?
  12. I don't know him, I'm just going by an interview he gave last month. He said the money owed hit him hard financially. I've heard plenty of rumours from people in the know, regarding riders being out of pocket. A public forum is not the place for such matters to be discussed. Harris went public with his grievances, that's why i mentioned it.
  13. It's a fantasy to suggest that all Polish people love speedway, the vast majority have probably never heard of it. It's only in certain parts of the country, mainly the big cities, that it is popular. How many Poles attend British speedway, very few i reckon.
  14. Surely if you cough up the bond, that should entitle you to a seat at the table. A sport like speedway needs fresh ideas, not the same old voices.
  15. Hard to argue with any of that. It's equivalent to being in the freemasons. a top secret organization that makes up it's own rules. What chance does any new blood have.
  16. That was the speedtrack championship at Lydden.
  17. And pigs might fly. If you don't bow to the old boys club, then you won't be let in. It's as simple as that.
  18. Firstly BMR would have to get their promoters licence back, if that's not possible, who would take Rye on as a going concern. It's going to be an interesting winter for sure.
  19. Part of the reason Rye moved up to the top flight, is crowds were poor during their last middle tier season. With rumours of a reduction in standard in the championship next year, would any prospective promoters be willing to take a gamble.
  20. I hated Mauger as a rider, especially his antics at the tapes. When i was invited on the great mans farewell tour of Poland in 1985, i found that away from the track he was a totally different person. Ivan and his family treated me really well, and made me feel guilty about how i booed him as a kid!
  21. Richard is definitely a Lakeside legend. He's in the clubs all time top 10 in my eyes.
  22. Totally agree. The last thing developers want is sitting tennants. The upkeep of the stadium and the security of the site would fall on the shoulders of the Speedway promoters. It wouldn't be financially viable.
