  1. Too right. When i first saw the tiger ride at Romford in 1970, he was alredy 30. I was just a wee lad at the time!
  2. Kemp is a brilliant signing for Kent. He really is a joy to watch at central park.
  3. Nothing new though is it. I'd love to see the balance sheets of every track in britain. Speedway is a sport run on goodwill and credit.
  4. I went to Somerton park a couple of times for speedway and football, but made over 20 visits to Queensway Meadows. I remember the big crowds at the start, declining to a few hundred at the end. A real shame for a purpose built speedway stadium to have such a short life.
  5. Hopefully there will be some closer meetings at Arlington next season. It's become far too predictable in recent years.
  6. With the loss of Lakeside and Rye, and with Kent treading water in a weakened NL, i would expect the Arlington crowds to go up. There are not a lot of options for fans in the South East.
  7. The SDL is the place for wobblers, not the NL. If the standard continues to fall, more tracks will go out of business. I can't see the logic in lowering the points limit, it's like the sport has a death wish.
  8. Especially as they are going to have to get used to the new shaped track!
  9. So that's Swindon, Poole, Ipswich, Lynn & the Panthers all having thursday as their main race night. I can't say i blame them.
  10. If the panthers have to run on the graveyard monday nights, the team could end up being very expensive.
  11. I get it just down the road from you in sunny Surrey. Maybe it's a postcode thing!
  12. Maybe some fans like seeing the old timers ride, but it's not for me. It's ok in individual meetings, but not in the league. The points limit being reduced should mean more places for youngsters, not old ringers. Maybe there should be a veterans league run along the same lines as the SDL. It would make for an entertaining second half event for those that want more races for their money.
  13. Only a year ago three of my local clubs were in the NL, now that number is down to one. With the product on offer, i can't say I'm too disappointed.
  14. All this is fine, if the reduction in quality is reflected in the admission price. If it's not, crowds will continue to fall.
  15. That model kit was the business, i had one when i was a kid. The fuel tank and rear mudguard were blue on mine.
  16. Have Sheffields decision to move to sundays been the final nail in Buxtons coffin. Due to the close proximity of both tracks, did Buxton have a say in this.
  17. Totally agree, it's all about opinions. As a sport, speedway has so many flaws, so there is always plenty to talk about.
  18. I can't see anything happening in time for next season. The developers won't want to spend any money on a dead duck.
  19. Sometimes it's good to be neutral. My team Wimbledon shut in 1991. Apart from a short spell in the CL in the early 2000's, I've had no emotional attachment to the sport at all. The closure of Lakeside and Rye is another step closer to speedway retirement for me.
  20. Lemmings jumping off a cliff springs to mind.
  21. How are you going to tempt new fans to come. You can't just sit there and do nothing. Once the oldies die off, there will be no one left.
