The immediate future of speedway in Herts/Essex
cityrebel replied to marko's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Whilst BMR still own Rye House stadium, it might just be a pipe dream. -
Quite an eventful meeting today raced in front of a decent crowd. The highlight for me was the fish and chips that were excellent, despite all of the early doom and gloom regarding the change of fryer!

Eastbourne v Glasgow (League) 18/5/19
cityrebel replied to eaglesno1's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
A few fallers tonight on what looked like a tricky track. With the heat leaders all dropping points and the Eagles long tail wagging, the crash involving Tommy B was a bridge too far in the end. The crowd looked well down compared to the previous home meetings. A combination of the FA cup and the GP on the telly no doubt contributed to this. -
I don't give a monkey's about the GP's. Eastbourne v Glasgow for me tonight. I would never miss live sport to watch an event on TV.

Ipswich v Poole; Supporters Cup; Thurs 16/05/19
cityrebel replied to SteveLyric2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Last nights meeting was a slow burner, racing wise. Once Poole got dialled in, the racing improved. I don't mind a poor meeting as long as its well run. Last night was standard fare, speedway wise. -
Photographers in British Speedway
cityrebel replied to GreenLightGo's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That's why premier league football clubs try to block mobile phone signals when the game kicks off. They don't want normal fans taking and posting unlicensed photos on the web whilst the match is in progress. It's all about protecting their image rights. -
We won't be able to get through the door soon. That carpet will be nearer the celing than the floor!

Who knows what Will happen at Rye. Only the SCB and their creditors probably know their true debts. Getting back to Kent. Despite more crashes on monday, i think a real effort was made to put on a slicker show than my previous visit. The crowd was very healthy again. I was also present when the Kings won at Stoke in an entertaining meeting the previous afternoon. All in all, a couple of days of decent speedway.

Birmingham Brummies 2019
cityrebel replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
So you really think that the SCB accept the Brummies version of events. Why don't the authorities carry out their own investigation if they are that bothered. If tracks can call meetings off for a football match, then why not for missing riders. I don't recall any teams getting fined for pulling the plug before the day of the meeting. -

Having lost my team some 14 years ago, it's far easier to watch the sport without any emotional attachment. I couldn't care less who wins as long as the track is well prepared and i get to see some decent racing. As for the rule bending and other farces that appear almost on a weekly basis, well i just take it on the chin. Surely there isn't anyone left that takes the sport seriously. -

Just tell the truth. Issue a statement saying they are not prepared to take a financial hit with Ellis not riding. It's not hard is it. -
It was like the Bahamas there on Sunday!

Absolutely. If you are waiting for speedway to become a serious sport, I'd stop going. I go in the hope of seeing a close meeting with some decent racing. Sometimes i get this, but mostly i don't! -

Loads of tracks have pulled fast ones over the years and got away with it. I know Belle Vue got punished for the hose pipe fiasco, but that is an exception to the rule. You had Eastbourne with the 'stolen' generators and last season Mildenhall refusing to turn up for an away match. Most of these incidents are swept under the carpet and quickly forgotten. The long suffering fans just get used to it. -

You probably won't have a facility if he does. -
Peterborough Vs Ipswich 13th May

Very similar to the Eastbourne v Poole south coast derby, a mere 120 miles apart! -
Mine was also 1970. I remember Ove Fundin getting booed, very loudly!

If he is riding in Denmark, do the Brummies get a facility. -
Today was my first visit to Stoke for a few seasons, and I'm glad there weren't any serious dramas to ruin the meeting. The track was a bit tricky early on and the water bowser did break down for a while, but other than that it was quite well run. Kent had a fair bit of bad luck with quite a few fallers, but the impressive Jordan Jenkins clinched the win in the end.

That is the big question. There has been a lot of rain in the last few days, an update will be much appreciated!

My mate went down there on good friday and was told none are being made this season.

I know he rode in an abandoned meeting at Custom House. It must have been a shock to ride on a huge track like West Ham.
