I was on the island last night and the first race did start 10 minutes late. The main match was still completed within two hours.
-
Proceedings were probably slowed down because Widders was delayed.

1974 had no yellow border steve. It was an all red one piece assembly with velcro straps instead of webbing. Unbelievably the jacket was reversible with a different design on the inside. The reason i know all of this, is because i have Reg Luckhurst's original number 7 jacket in my collection!

Too right, Greenford and Walthamstow were two of the early casualties in the 1930's. Although the latter did return for a short spell post war.

I quite enjoyed the larger track at Poole, it was far better than the original narrow version. The current circuit is a great shape, but leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to track preparation.

A preview on on either clubs website would help. How can they expect to sell the sport to the public when they don't publicise it. -
That's not always the case though Brian. Two tracks from my neck of the woods, Hackney and West Ham were two of the finest race tracks in the history of the sport.
-
I have to agree. It was always going to be crashes galore with a team containing so many young chargers!

It was nice to see the parade at 6.15 last night. Long may it continue.

I must admit as a neutral, i did expect a lot of 60 plus scores at central park this season. Ledwith and Rowe have exceed my expectations, but Kemp and Jenkins are not at last seasons level yet. Although in fairness Jordan has been hampered by injuries, as have Spooner and the Kings star reserves.

Is Boxall still on a ban, Bowtell on the orher hand would be a great signing for any NL club.
-
Not according to Jon Cook!!!
-
A decent meeting tonight with the kings falling short against a strong Belle Vue side. 15 year old Jake Mulford looked very impressive on his debut, with a sensational ride in heat 4 that brought the house down!

Just got in from Kent v Belle Vue. I will post them tomorrow if still needed. -
Dry in the garden of England now, with the sun trying to poke its nose out.
-
No race day update on the Kent website this morning, which is unusual. There are a few showers around at the moment, which wasn't in the earlier forecasts.

It was a very good meeting today with some excellent hard fought racing. 35 races for 20 quid was decent Value for money. It's not often you can say that about speedway. -
Eastbourne v Scunthorpe - Sat 22JUN19
cityrebel replied to Mike.Butler's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Last night far exceeded my expectations. A real battling performance from a patched up Scunny side. Broc Nicol was excellent, aggressive and fearless. -
I think the racing was closer not necessarily better. Today is all about flying machines on ultra slick tracks. It was a lot more of a level playing field before the four valvers came into play.
-
This meeting has been kicked from pillar to post for years, so this is no suprise. I remember Coventry stepped in to stage it because no one else wanted to. The NL pairs usually gets the same treatment.
-
Fingers crossed the generator keeps going!

You and me both, but i'll still be there. Us speedway nomads in the South East have very little else.
