Berwick v Eastbourne Championship 17/08 @ 7pm
cityrebel replied to screm's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Eastie away from home really are that bad. However, they are a dangerous team over a two legged tie. -
That was the last meeting i went to at Odsal. I remember seeing Arena there on a Tuesday night and the place was deserted.

Don't hold your breath. -
With the NSS a mere 40 miles away, i fear that Odsal's horse has long since bolted.

King's Lynn v Wolves 15/08/2019
cityrebel replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Was there any racing tonight, mostly FTG. As a neutral, not my idea of entertainment. -
It's not just speedway. I saw him on the grass at the British masters last sunday, he was really struggling.

King's Lynn v Wolves 15/08/2019

One word for that tonight, AWFUL. I feel sorry for you Lynn fans having to watch that every week. I'm glad my one visit per season is done and dusted. -
Only Rowe, jenkins & Gilkes riding from the original Kent line up that started the season. It's been a terrible season for injuries at Central Park.

It's been a summer of record temperatures and torrential downpours. No good for speedway clubs.

The Panthers certainly look like a team going through the motions. The huge gap in home fixtures has been a disaster.

Easily missed with so much going on! -
Cook, Vissing and Kennett banned.

As a neutral, i never saw Kennett throwing punches, only Cook and Vissing. There was further aggro in the pits during the meeting, but i couldn't be bothered to have a look. I was there to watch a Speedway meeting, not grown men making fools of themselves. -
Eastbourne v Glasgow Semi Final
cityrebel replied to Hunters's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I actually attended this meeting 9 days ago, and saw the incidents first hand, right in front of me. I can't believe this topic has stretched to 51 pages. It was consigned to my memory banks a couple of days later. -
British Masters 2019 Result?
cityrebel replied to a4poster's topic in Grasstrack, Sidecar, Short Track and Cycle Speedway
1st James Shanes, 2nd Zach Wajtknecht, 3rd Paul Hurrry. Shanes was in a class of his own today, unbeaten all afternoon. -
IOW Warriors v Mildenhall Fen Tigers 8/8/19

I was at Brum on Wednesday. Wood was flying in his first ride, tailed off in his second and pulled up in his third. Something wasn't right. -
Speedway Promotion or Lack of it.
cityrebel replied to greyhoundp's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I attended my first meeting as a wee lad at Wimbledon in September 1968, and I'm still going strong. I've lost about 20 local tracks in that time, and with the loss of Lakeside and Rye Last year, I'm hanging on by my fingertips. I still go to most of the meetings at Eastbourne and Kent, plus a few on the Island. Add the occasional trip and that's about it. The clock is ticking for me, a couple more closures and the game will be up. -

Forecasts play a massive part in going to speedway these days, especially for those with long distances to travel. -
Poole v Ipswich 8th August 2019. Prem.
cityrebel replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
A promoters nightmare in the peak holiday season. I was thinking of going to the island tonight, but the forecast is too dodgy. I'm glad i made the decision to go to Brum v Eastbourne last night instead. -
I always fancied a home win for the Brummies last night, especially against the leagues worst travellers. The dropping of Ben Morley has definitely weakened the Eagles, although it could benefit them in the long term. The track was far too dry at the start, and bumpy in places, but it still managed to produce some decent racing.

Reshape existing tracks
cityrebel replied to OveFundinFan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I've been to the last two meetings at Poole Sid, and to be fair the track was pretty decent. -
I'm giving it a miss tonight, not my cup of tea really. I might have gone if i was local.

Eastbourne v Glasgow Semi Final
cityrebel replied to Hunters's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Home promoters have always prepared their tracks to suit the home riders. It's been going on since the sport started. -

There were plenty of punch ups when i first started going to speedway, but it's a trend that died out with time. Last night was the first brawl I've seen before a meeting has started.
