  1. A rare monday when I'm not at Kent and no TV meeting to watch, typical!
  2. I have, three times now. White City v Swindon 1978, Kent v Cradley 2014 & Eastbourne v Lakeside 2017.
  3. From my own personal experience that's well wide of the mark. I've been to 14 tracks this season. Of those Sheffield and Belle Vue were the only venues that stopped you taking food and drink into the stadium. I also attend a lot of premiership football matches, none have stopped me taking my own items in with me. Speedway needs every punter it can get. Alienating those few that still go will cost the stadium owners long term.
  4. To think, this meeting was originally moved from Hackney to Wimbledon, because the capacity at the wick was a mere 13,000!
  5. I think track curation is a dying art. These old guys are retiring or popping their clogs, like a lot of fans.
  6. It might not be good enough, but these type of incidents are commonplace at speedway nowadays, and a big reason why a lot of people don't go anymore.
  7. You and me both. I saw a decent meeting at Eastbourne last night, so i didn't want to push my luck.
  8. He took a heavy tumble avoiding Karl Howarth at Eastie last night.
  9. It's not what you know, but who you know.
  10. The match was there for the taking for Sheffield. Far too many thrown away points enabled the Eagles to get out of jail. An entertaining meeting for me as a neutral.
  11. There used to be a special bus that ran from the Town centre to the stadium.
  12. I've made a career out of being a miserable git!
  13. I was on one of them Steve. I also went on the Wimbledon coach to the BLRC at Belle Vue the night before. Those were the days!
  14. Your air horns steve were part of the reason i stopped travelling on the Wimbledon away coaches, my ear drums couldn't handle the noise!
  15. Three team tournament to be staged on the island next week.
  16. Shame the rest of its gone. I worked over there a few times, it certainly had a touch of style about it. Even though i worked for the GRA, they treated me very well.
  17. Big crowd today, you can't beat a sunny bank holiday for pulling in the punters.
  18. One of the most recent casulties was the iconic art deco Walthamstow Stadium. A massive campaign to save it from the bulldozers failed. When the money men come calling to build houses, the writing is on the wall. If either Coventry or Oxford could be saved, it would be a big boost in these worrying times for the sport.
  19. Plenty of stadiums were viable, but their land value was far more valuable than their sporting income. Norwich and Southampton were two of the earliest casualties.
  20. The two go hand in hand, don't they?
