Both the Lions and the Cubs have reached the finals of the play offs and cup competitions. It's inevitable they would have a fixture backlog with the wet end to the season.
-
It was dry from early morning last sunday up until 6pm on the monday. So they had a window to pack the track down. It has been raining in the south east for the best part of three days with more to come tomorrow.

Redcar v Leicester Semi final
cityrebel replied to johnyson66's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Redcar had real opportunities to progress last night. Several times they got themselves into good racing positions, only to let them slip. It was a tense hard fought meeting for the neutral. I must admit, i was hoping for golden heats before the last race! -
The weather is looking pretty grim for next week, hopefully these meetings will get run.

I first saw Birmingham there in 1973. I think i went to about 60 odd meetings there up until their final season in 1987. A big track, too narrow to produce really good racing, although Barney Kennett always seemed to find the room to move his opponents off the white line to get past!.

POOLE V KINGS LYNN, SUPPORTERS CUP, Weds9.10.19

With three weeks of the season left, no reason not to. -
I only saw speedway once in the car stadium. Short straights and tight turns, not a track for the faint hearted!

The Squire rode for nearly every track in London. RIP Split.

Kent v belle vue play off semi 2nd leg tonight
cityrebel replied to ruckerroo's topic in National League Speedway
Plenty of big meetings over the years have been run in wet weather, it's the nature of the sport. The conditions at Eastbourne a couple of weeks ago were far worse. At this time of the year with dates running out, meetings are going to be run at any opportunity. It's a nightmare senario for the home promoter, wether to stick or twist. -

For speedway starved fans in the south east, beggars can't be choosers. I will always gamble at a local track, but as for travelling long distances, i couldn't entertain it. -

I don't feel short changed after last night. Going straight from work in London in dodgy weather, i was just grateful to see a meeting. Those young riders who put on a show in horrendous conditions deserve great credit. A lot of senior league riders wouldn't have warmed their bikes up, let alone ride. -

If Swindon make the final, Leicester will probably be without Perks next Monday. -
Got all my progs of attended meetings and the reference books, but my magazines went years ago. I haven't brought the Star on a regular basis since 1993!

Kent v belle vue play off semi 2nd leg tonight

When the heavens opened at 6pm i feared the worst. The track looked very wet before heat 1, but held up well despite the rain falling for the majority of the meeting. All of the riders deserve a lot of credit for knuckling down and riding very sensibly in what must have been very poor visability. -

Looks like Len's going for it. -

Will Len let Belle Vue travel with such a poor weather forecast, that is the question. I'm certainly not keen about a late call off, but with no chance of an alternative race night, dates are running out. -
