  1. How many fans will have the money to go. A lot of people will have financial worries when this crisis is over.
  2. I was there, 1984 Herxheim. It poured with rain the night before. The fire brigade turned up on sunday morning to pump the water off. The track was then totally relaid before the start of the meeting. It was a superhuman effort to get it on.
  3. Looking at all of the morons in the parks and on the beaches. There seems to be a fair number of people still not taking the threat seriously.
  4. The announcement that social distancing could persist for another 12 months, will probably rule out most sporting events for the majority of the population.
  5. I work in a special needs school, so it's all hands on deck at the moment. I expect it to stay that way until the government or health issues dictate otherwise.
  6. Now now Arnie, we will have no negative posts on this forum!
  7. Less fixtures to fit in, if and when we start.
  8. Prehaps you should address the nation instead of Boris. I reckon you'd be very good at it.
  9. The National league looks in trouble to me. There wasn't enough fixtures for the stand alone clubs to start with.
  10. Plenty of people have similar views on different threads. It's all about opinions isn't it.
  11. Someone in the 'know' told me July 1st, for one of my local tracks.
  12. Definitely off I'd say. It might take three months for the virus to decline. I can see some tracks not starting at all. This season could be terminal for the sport.
  13. My son was on holiday in Barcelona. He cut short his break and managed to get a flight back to Stansted last night. He said the airport was in chaos prior to take off.
  14. If by some miracle the season does start. They could scrap the cup fixtures and run A league matches only. It's not ideal, but could be a solution.
  15. Some clubs, especially those running two teams, might have to reduce their fixtures. Kent with their planning restrictions might be one of those.
  16. I understand that, but we have never had a potential lockdown in my lifetime. That's what scares people, hence all of the panic buying.
  17. This virus is a bit more serious than the common cold. I'm a big football and speedway fan, if both sports are stopped, we just have to accept it. I went to Maidenhead for football yesterday. A big crowd turned out, which suggests to me that the public will continue to go, until they are forced to stay indoors.
  18. The health of the nation is far more important than a few speedway meetings. When this crisis is over, the sport will have to regroup and start again.
  19. That just about shuts the sport down for the next two to three months. With a massive worldwide fixture backlog in place, it won't be worth starting a full league programme.
  20. That's a really good point. Most speedway meetings are like a Derby and Jones club. The majority of fans are in the high risk group.
