  1. Plus a carrier bag, in case the toilets are out of bounds.
  2. Was you at Coventry for the NL fours, when they used cement to fill in the hole on turn three!
  3. I was there Steve. Speedway racing on custard!
  4. Some tracks will try to run a few meetings, others will pull the plug on this year. It's going to be horses for courses, if it gets going.
  5. Absolutely. My mate at the FA told me, September is the date they are looking at for having fans inside the stadiums. Fingers crossed that the infections have reduced enough for it to happen.
  6. Tell me about it, i had to sit on a plastic bag!
  7. For me personally, going to my local speedway track is no more of a risk than queuing up at a local supermarket, or going into work. It could happen with the right precautions and restrictions in place. Getting the permission to start up again though, is a different matter entirely.
  8. Romford, Newport Somerton Park and Glasgow Craighead Park were three more tight tracks that i attended in my younger years!
  9. The pre meeting downpour helped make it a pretty good meeting though, compared to the awful race off a couple of days earlier.
  10. Steve, was you on the Wimbledon coach, that went to Hull on royal wedding day in 1981.
  11. When Smallmead was prepared right, it was excellent. When it was neglected, it was terrible. Attending the world cup final there in 2006 was a surreal experience. Coachloads of Poles parked in the Madjeski stadium car park, thought the meeting was being staged at the football ground!
  12. I saw Wimbledon there twice. A bit on the narrow side!
  13. Tilehurst was pretty similar to Cowley Steve, but i think Smallmead was a better race track. Tilehurst was too flat in my opinion. The Highlight of my trips to Tilehurst were the excellent pre meeting chippy, just across the road from the stadium!
  14. Smallmead was a bit of a dump, but i preferred it to Tilehurst, which was a cramped stadium with poor viewing. The injury to Per Jonsson knocked the stuffing out of the place, and the club never recovered. One of my most enjoyable seasons at Smallmead, was the the last one. Ulrich Ostergaard's swoops from the back, were worth the admission money alone.
  15. Absolutely. If thousands of people can demonstrate in city centres, go to the beach and visit shops, then surely speedway with it's meagre attendances can prepare to get going again. Social distancing should be easily enforced at most venues.
  16. So was i, although the Dons turned the table the following night Steve!
  17. There might be a few more clashes with football fixtures. A lot of fans, like myself, follow both sports.
  18. I stood there Steve, plenty of times. In the last few seasons i tended to stand at the top of the steps by the starting gate.
  19. I'm missing the social side of the sport and the days out. Good racing is a bonus for me these days.
  20. There is a lot of snobbery in speedway. When West Ham dropped down a league, it was like pulling teeth trying to get my old man to take me to Custom House.
  21. Looking at the queues outside the shops, a few will be emptying their savings accounts!
  22. I remember it well. Eamonn Andrews with his overalls on!
  23. I used to watch the chilly early season meetings behind glass at Plough Lane, but soon ventured outside as it got milder.
