  1. Swindon was 18/5 and Reading was 28/5 with Belle Vue Sandwiched in the middle. I just checked this on the speedway updates site.
  2. I went to the last ever top flight meeting there in 2007. Despite it being a local derby against Reading, the crowd was awful.
  3. But, it's perfectly ok for the same stadiums to open their gates and let people in for stock car racing.
  4. Likewise, I've attended amateur meetings at Eastbourne, Iwade, Lydd, Rye House & Scunthorpe. I've only paid at Iwade.
  5. I agree with you about the football. On the last saturday before the lockdown, my two first choice games at Brighton and Woking were postponed. So we diverted to Maidenhead and the place was packed with fans desperate for a game.
  6. Lower crowds less risk, i reckon. Non league football is supposedly starting in September, with fans.
  7. I was under the impression, if the local authority approved it, spectators could be admitted for NL and amateur meetings. Just like they are at stock car racing.
  8. Now that the top two leagues have been shelved for this season, how many tracks will attempt to stage meetings at NL level. I'm hoping that my two nearest clubs, kent and Eastbourne run a few.
  9. Absolutely. It's going to be a big struggle to save some of the current venues. Fair play to anyone trying to resurrect defunct clubs.
  10. Sad stuff. I'm glad i managed to do a couple of meetings at Brandon in their last season.
  11. I heard that. You might get a few tracks run some meetings at NL level. I'm all for it, if it does happen.
  12. I saw both of them ride for their respective London clubs!
  13. Who is going to foot the bill to make the stadiums compliant. Extra stewards, sinage and PPE don't come cheap. Hard up landlords might be reluctant.
  14. I'd settle for some NL standard meetings this season, if the Championship can't run.
  15. Qiuite possibly, but there has been plenty of riders over the years that have got injured doing non speedway activities.
  16. The season might start for some clubs, but league racing might be just a pipe dream.
  17. I went to a couple of meetings there in 1988. It was a very smart stadium at the start.
  18. It might survive at a semi professional level, but a lot of riders might have to take a 'real' job to make ends meet. Will all of the stadiums still be in business, that is the question.
  19. Especially when it affects their livelihoods.
  20. I would accept anything, just to ease the boredom!
  21. I was referring to british speedway as a whole. If the bug is still around next Easter, we will be where we are now.
  22. A lack of knowledge issue more like. The powers that be, should be shouting from the rooftops.
  23. Speedway is as big as tiddlywinks as far as the general public is concerned. The vast majoriry of people have never heard of it.
