Poole Pirates 2021
cityrebel replied to Pirates Of Poole's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Around the same sort of time, i saw Barnet at Weymouth's old Recreation ground in the town centre. I went to the NL pairs at Swindon afterwards. A good day out! -

I saw Newport County there in 1983. It never felt like a proper football ground -

Crowds will never flock back. People will have bigger priorities than a night at the speedway. This pandemic will affect all spectator sports. -

People everywhere are having to take pay cuts. Why should speedway riders be any different. -

The time for an enquiry will be next March, when the season is delayed again. A repeat of this year will probably finish the sport off. -

It's always been 'my way or no way' with the promoters in this country. Just hand over your cash and keep quiet. That's their business plan. -

Every greyhound stadium is at risk. How long can any business survive with hardly any revenue. God knows what state the country will be in economically, when we finally come out of this pandemic. -

A new football stadium for Poole Town, maybe. -
Is the track still used for training and practice.

I've only been to Northside once, for the British youth championship a few years ago. Is the site still in good order. I know they've had problems with vandals in the past.

I can't see any professional speedway taking place in this country until a vaccine is in place, or the virus is in world wide decline.
-
It's a good job that the bug only infects 'professional' people, otherwise we could end up with a second wave!

Have a look on YouTube at the social distancing going on at King's Lynn stock cars last saturday. Can anyone explain to me how this is allowed, when other spectator sports have been shut down.
-
Absolutely. With no fans in football grounds at any level, how can this be allowed.

Ipswich, Aldershot & Lynn have now staged meetings, with a full Autumn fixture list to follow. Amateur or not, it's still a sporting event with people inside a stadium. I just don't get it.

I remember the stock cars in the Rayleigh car park, waiting for the speedway to finish. -
It didn't stop King's Lynn staging a stock car meeting last Saturday, for the publics 'entertainment'

The weather is speedways biggest enemy. Cars don't have that problem. What they pay for, they get. -

I've seen the cars at about six venues. I was bored to tears every time. -
Being a key worker that works with vulnerable children, i just follow the rules. In my job i have to.

I'm going for, bug still around, season delayed in 2021.

From a personal point of view, i am doing nothing different than i was at the height of the lockdown. I social distance, regularly wash my hands, wear a mask when required and avoid crowded places. It's not rocket science, is it?
