  1. South Park v Bognor Regis Town tonight, hopefully it won't be my last match this year.
  2. Lost interest now I'd say. Purchased tickets for Leicester and Ippo this month, both events bit the dust. I'm a creature of habit, i need regular local meetings to keep me going. Chasing odd meetings hundreds of miles away, don't do it for me.
  3. Carshalton Athletic v Faversham Town in the FA cup tonight.
  4. The pandemic has had the opposite effect on me. Pre lockdown i used to attend on average 80 meetings per season. When this hell is over, i will definitely settle for less.
  5. I'm not really losing interest, it's the lack of local meetings that are having the biggest impact. I've been to Lydd, Scunthorpe and King's Lynn and hopefully Ipswich next week. Driving over 200 miles for meetings don't do it for me.
  6. Banstead Athletic v Guildford City tonight. Game no.6 since lockdown.
  7. There might be a vacancy for you soon, at the BSPA!
  8. I remember riders fuel being tested at a meeting at Wimbledon in the mid 1970's.
  9. Farnborough v Lymington Town today in the FA cup.
  10. British final ticket sales suspended, no crowds at the St Ledger. The writing is on the wall.
  11. Godalming Town v Farnham Town last night. A brutal Surrey derby under the lights.
  12. I first saw him ride as a sixteen year old at Crayford's reopening meeting in 1975. He was one of the few riders that could regularly pass Penhall when he was at his peak.
  13. The clubs most at threat are those that rent greyhound stadiums. Dog racing is another cloth cap sport, like speedway, that is dying on its feet.
  14. Just got back from Horley Town v Newhaven. Crowd was about 150. Only a few people were wearing masks, plenty of room to social distance.
  15. I can't see any greyhound stadiums allowing speedway events this year.
  16. And the third and fourth bend. It was a good view from there.
  17. Capacity was 600 at Leatherhead on Monday and only 150 at Guildford on Wednesday. Both matches were all ticket.
  18. With the restrictions slowly being eased, has anyone ventured out to any sporting events. I have attended three speedway meetings at Lydd, Scunthorpe and King's Lynn. I have also been to two non league football matches at Leatherhead and Guildford City. It's been great to try and get back to some kind of normality.
  19. My mum was at West Ham the night Ernie Roccio was killed. She seldom talked about the incident. She was always a reluctant visitor to Custom House right up until the 1970's.
  20. I used to call Arena, the elephants graveyard of London and south east speedway. Everyone that went there, used to support someone else!
