I remember rushing back after Halifax, because Wimbledon were at Rye House on the Sunday. I was gutted because Belle Vue had a test match at Hyde road on the same day.
The government issue the guidlines, but the local councils will make the final decisions. This is how it was with non league football, before the latest lockdown. Every stadium is different, in design and capacity.
I'm gutted that no fans can return to non league grassroots football until May 17th. It's perfectly ok for theme parks and zoo's to reopen on April 12th. I just don't understand it.
My first ever 3 in one day was King's Lynn, Ipswich and Hackney in 1976. I've also done Exeter, Weymouth and Swindon, also Reading, Rye House and Hackney, plus Peterborough, King's Lynn and Boston. My most unusual 3 in a day must be Long Eaton, Scunthorpe and Halifax in 1982 i think.
Hardly any young people attend speedway, so the vast majority should have some protection anyway. These things change on a regular basis, come May 17th things should be a lot clearer.
I get what you are saying, but there is talk of them being needed at pubs. Speedway attendances are potentially far bigger. It could be a system very similar to the NHS app. This was used at the majority of non league football matches i attended, up until the present lockdown.
With the news today, that Covid 'passports' will be needed to attend the upcoming sporting test events. Will something similar be required to gain entry to speedway stadiums from May 17th.
I'm just in the process of sorting out my photo collection. I've got a snap of Ronnie Moore wearing the golden helmet in his second spell circa 1969 - 72. Can any kind soul tell me the likely date of this. I can't face the task of trawling through my programmes for the answer!
All stadiums with glass enclosed grandstands, must be expecting vastly reduced capacity limits to be imposed. It will soon be make your mind up time for some clubs.
The delays are a killer for speedway. Meetings that start late, excessive tractor grading, double R/R, the list goes on. Most sports, with the exception of cricket run like clockwork. A slicker show would definitely encourage more people to go, but the majority of promoters don't see it.
I think the promoters are praying for a boom period after the pandemic, but it could easily go the other way. I'm hoping that grassroots football gets the nod on April 12th and speedway on May 17th. I'm getting fed up with this lark now.
