  1. a decent meeting at a dry launch pad last night. a deserved point for a determined comets side in a hard fought match.
  2. it's the worse case scenario for uncle len this evening shads. a weakened rockets side going up against a decent looking sky tv match and a dodgy forecast. weather permitting i will be one of the die hards there tonight.
  3. he looked pretty good on his debut at leicester last night. he rode some decent lines and was well on the pace.
  4. tomorrow sees the rockets take on workington in the first meeting staged at the launch pad since the olympic break. with both teams missing riders it could be a close match depending on the line ups. after a decent weeks weather the forecast is poor for monday, typical british summer!
  5. tomorrow evening sees the hammers take on belle vue at arena essex. any team news for this fixture.
  6. a lovely afternoon spent on the south coast was followed by a trip across the solent to see the islanders well beaten by a very determined dudley side. thankfully there were no sun delays which enabled us to get the earlier ferry.
  7. it's a shame yesterdays meeting wasn't on sky. it would have been fun watching mr.pearson going into raptures over some of the superb racing served up on the excellent showground track.
  8. an excellent meeting at the showground today, which produced some fantastic racing on a well prepared track. a big well done to the bandits and to all of the other riders for keeping me entertained on a pleasant DRY sunday Afternoon!
  9. I sold my speedway mails on ebay in bundles of four for a pound, i was happy to get that for them. Post 1970 magazines can be very hard to sell.
  10. knowing rye house's luck with the weather it will be more hit than miss.
  11. Have a look on ebay or contact nick barber at enjay designs. Nick always has plenty of old speedway stuff for sale.
  12. According to the BSPA website both semi finals will not be restaged.
  13. Last night was a decent meeting, but the recent stars v poole match was pretty poor for the first 13 heats. Which just goes to show you get good and bad meetings at all tracks.
  14. ok, you are starting to convince me. i've watched the film again and the lamp standards were different when i went there in the 1970's, and the cine film doesn't give you a view of the whole stadium. rayleigh it is then!
  15. no sign of a july 17 restaging date in the fixture list on the BSPA website. with only just over a week to go, you would have thought it would be advertised by now.
  16. sorry to stray off topic. i remember as a kid watching david hamilton and ed stewart have a race at wembley, does anyone else remember this memorable moment!
  17. i reckon mr. stead would stand a better chance of getting through at owlerton, rather than those tight corners at rye!
  18. according to the swindon website, simon stead now rides in the rye semi final. in place of who i don't know.
  19. i've seen ariel photos of rayleigh in the 1950's and it had grandstands on both straights. these stands were still present when i went there in the 1970's. the pits at the weir were at the end of the home straight alongside the main stand, not on the bend like is shown on the cine film.
  20. they said at arlington during the sky meeting it was a 3.30pm start.
  21. it will be tough to rearrange with riders commitments elsewhere.
  22. if it's true, i can't see uncle len putting up with that kind of nonsense.
  23. it was decent of len to give fans who attended last weeks rain off a £10 discount. so a free meeting tonight offset the money i spent at king's lynn on friday. a battling performance from the hitmen kept the match interesting.
