Good meeting tonight, that shows what we are missing in this country. Would the crowds return if the top riders rode here, who knows, who would take the financial risk. -
blazeaway was the Wimbledon parade tune

Ten heats done in 50 minutes at kent last monday to beat the rain. It just shows what's possible. -
I saw him ride a few times at wembley and Wimbledon in the 1970's. Not enough to make an impression on me at the time, although I was only a nipper!

I think the crowds have gone down at lakeside this year, but they are not alone. It seems to be a worrying ongoing trend everywhere. -
At poole on wednesday the price including car park and prog was £21.50. No wonder the crowds have gone down there. Old die hards like me will continue to go but floating fans will never come back, and i don't blame them!

It's an old promoters trick to keep the line ups a secret, but in these days of the internet it's hard to keep anything under wraps! -
I agree, well done in getting a result in tricky conditions. I think the natural watering helped the track in the early part of the meeting.

This coming Monday sees the potters visit Central Park. The weather forecast looks poor for the next few days, fingers crossed for some of the dry stuff!

Rye House V Glasgow 10 May Ko Cup 1st Leg

To be fair to Len the forecast today is pretty poor so I can understand the early call off. It's his decision to pull the plug on the scunny match a couple off weeks ago that baffles me! -

The food at reading used to be quite good, but the only track i would consider buying grub now would be mildenhall. -

An early call off by uncle len i reckon! -
Tomorrow sees the wolves visit purfleet for what looks like a routine home win for the hammers. The weather forecast has improved for the south east on Friday, so with any luck we will see some speedway.

It's always harder for new tracks to maintain the crowd levels in their 2nd season. That's why it's so important to sort out the track problems as soon as possible. -

Mark loram had a very poor season the year after winning the world title. Maybe woffinden is feeling the strain of being world champion. -
Buzz was a legend in wimbledon's CL era. He took many risks on that tricky plough lane track in the dons cause. His battles with lewis bridger home and away were not for the faint hearted!

Swedish Elitserien 2014, Round 1
cityrebel replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
If you can look beyond the awful commentary, it was good to see some league racing from another country. The crowd looked pretty poor, is this the norm for swedish league matches. A big well done to eurosport for showing us some different speedway from the usual EL and GP coverage. -
Where Is British Speedway Going.
cityrebel replied to mc1874's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I just don't think british speedway is sustainable in it's present form. It's far too expensive for the product that's on offer and the public are voting with their feet. Run down stadiums and poorly prepared tracks don' t help in the fight to keep the few die hards that still attend. A reduction in admission prices is the only way to save speedway in this country, and if that means kicking out the high earners, then so be it. Looking at the attendances at the televised meetings abroad, it seems that the decline in speedway popularity is worldwide. -
Tony was a regular part of the london speedway scene when i was a kid, riding for west ham, wembley and wimbledon. RIP clarkie.
