Workington V Sheffield 27/07/14 15:00 Hrs (pl)
cityrebel replied to topaz325's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
For the first time in over a decade I was up at worky for the recent Ipswich match. I was very impressed with the whole set up, the stadium was very smart and the track was well prepared. After the Edinburgh call off and today's fiasco, was I just lucky with my visit. -

What a delight last night to see a track with dirt on, it took me back to my younger years!. So much better than these modern ultra slick surfaces. -

An excellent meeting on the best prepared Arlington track in living memory. Some great hard fought battles in front of a decent crowd, despite the dodgy weather forecast. Well done to all of the riders on both sides. -

The madness of uncle Len saved me having to make a decision, so I went to eastbourne and enjoyed an excellent meeting on a much improved Arlington track. Thanks Len! -
How Can Sweden Afford To Pay The Top Riders

Jon cook was saying that the lakeside crowds have held up really well despite the world cup. They always seem to pick up when the weather gets milder. -

How Can Sweden Afford To Pay The Top Riders

I think i read that lakeside's crowds are averaging around the 1200 mark. Which is very good considering it is an awful place to get to with very basic facilities. -

If a well run club like lakeside have to release a rider due to financial reasons, then the sport is heading for some stormy waters!

Today july 14th is the anniversary of the lokeren disaster of 1970. Phil bishop, gary everett, martyn piddock, peter bradshaw and malcolm carmichael perished in a horrific road accident in belgium. West ham and wimbledon were poorer places after the loss of these men, and i will be thinking of them at kent speedway tonight. RIP they will not be forgotten.

I thought it was a decent meeting last night and very well run. The shambles at cardiff station after the meeting was another matter. Due to some moron smashing a train window i ended up back in london over an hour late. I was not amused!

if he hasn't put any money into kent, why has roger cearns sat back and watched Len ride shotgun over everybody that doesn't fit in with his way of thinking. It seems to be a very strange way to run a business!

As a neutral and arena regular I hope it works out well for everyone. For me personally, I will miss watching PK ride at lakeside. The place will be a lot poorer without him, a true legend of british speedway.

I am easily pleased when it comes to new tracks opening in the south east. It's been thirty years since the last one! i am easily pleased when it comes to new tracks opening in the south east, It's been 30 years since the last one!. I don't for one minute think that Len is just a figurehead at Central Park, without his money I don't think it would have happened. They do pretty well to squeeze the whole show into a two hour period, especially with the amount of spills at NL level. Sure, the track is not perfect but the facilities are good and it's nice to sit in a decent grandstand after a hard days work!

I'm not a fan of 'Len silver speedway', far from it, but I do believe that without Len, there would be no speedway at Central Park. Us fans in the south east now have a fine stadium with a slowly improving track to watch speedway in. After losing the IOW last season it would be a disaster to lose another track within our barren area. I will continue the mad rush from South London to kent kings on monday nights, because believe it or not, I enjoy going there!
