  1. I've got an original Leicester super badge in my collection. It was found in a jam jar during a house clearance in the Leicester area. It's amazing how these rare items still turn up after all these years!
  2. John sampford as team manager would be a great start!!!
  3. I feel exactly the same way about the various 'Wimbledon' select teams that have taken to the track since the dons demise in 2005.
  4. if that rumour is true shads, let's hope it's not the last ever season of racing at rye.
  5. I was at eastbourne on Monday where he put in a poor performance for Swindon. The sad thing is, it's what I expected pre meeting.
  6. the lights on the bends could do with adjusting. They seem to be in the same position as last season.
  7. tomorrow sees lakeside make another attempt to stage a home fixture for the first time in nearly a month. a very weak aces team provide the opposition in yet another elite league farce. the weather forecast is dodgy, no surprise there then!
  8. a bit of a shock for the lights to be turned off last night so soon after heat 15. there were still quite a few people in the stadium at the time, is old len trying to save a few bob on the electricity!
  9. In an attempt to get the hoddesdon crowds down to the 200 mark. Uncle len sees Sundays at 6pm as the way forward at the launch pad!
  10. Tomorrow sees yet another midweek meeting at the launch pad, this time the diamonds provide the opposition. I'm going for a narrow home win just to cheer shadders up!
  11. What sad news, mike was a true gent who I knew well in his Wimbledon days. Mike gave me his chalfont dons race jacket at the end of the 1983 season and I still have it my collection. RIP mike and thanks for the memories.
  12. pretty poor, but with some awful weather in surrounding areas, I'm not surprised.
  13. kent could name a rookie no.8 and give him all of the R/R rides.
  14. Same here in South London, Bone dry all day until late evening.
  15. A fine gesture by the kent management last night. To let those fans that attended last weeks rain off in for nothing was excellent PR for the club. And was well appreciated by yours truly!
  16. The wick was a decent track when silver ran it, although I did witness some awful accidents there over the years. The racing was never as good when the track was changed in 1984, when crayford moved in.
  17. There might be a few there with the school holidays in full swing.
  18. I remember ed, you went to the launch pad that night. I went to a very soggy smallmead instead!
  19. Regarding the readmission policy in the uk. I think it is unfair on the fans to get no discount if a result is declared from heat 10 onwards. We pay our money at the turnstiles for 15 races and we should be refunded if we don't receive that. I suppose cricket and tennis fans might feel the same way. Getting back to last night, I was quite surprised on entering the stadium to see how much water had been put on the track pre meeting. Did no one look at the rainfall radar, to realise how close the wet stuff was.
  20. what right have the FIM got to run the World Cup final on the same night as rye v Newcastle!
  21. This coming Wednesday sees the rockets take on Redcar in a rare midweek meeting at the launch pad. There is a bit of high cloud forecast for the hoddesdon area, so fingers crossed Len don't call it off!
  22. my two kids are exactly the same. They go to Cardiff every year but don't go to domestic speedway anymore. They have not even been to kent yet, which is a surprise because they would never have missed the chance of going to a new track in the past. Standing in a rundown stadium with a few hundred people will not attract the younger generation I'm afraid.
  23. 19.7 rye v panthers - off weather and weakened rockets team 27.7 rye v kent - off too many meetings at the launch pad!!! 2.8 rye v diamonds - off speedway world Cup How many more meetings are going to be called off at rye for no apparent reason, surely the Newcastle match could have been raced on Saturday afternoon like it was a few years ago. Which I seem to remember pulled in a decent crowd.
