  1. A decent match last night in front of an improved crowd. Let's hope this was not the last ever meeting at Arlington, with all the uncertainty regarding rye house, these are uncertain times for speedway in the south east.
  2. They did not open the turnstiles at lakeside on Monday, all the money was taken at the side gate. This is a trend I can see catching on!.
  3. There was very poor crowd at the launch pad last night, mostly made up of old fogies like me. Can it be turned around at rye, I very much doubt it. With so many missing familiar faces on the terraces, it's a sad old place to visit nowadays.
  4. If the season wasn't drawing to a close I would give this a miss tonight. All three leagues are becoming a farce with missing riders due to foreign commitments or doubling up duties. British speedway is like a rabid dog that needs putting down!
  5. I was at the meeting last night, the track looked a lot worse on the TV than it did from my position on the back straight. I left the stadium feeling that the match should have run it's full course, but in hindsight the riders of both sides should be congratulated for getting a result.
  6. great minds think alike!, I said the same thing to my mates at eastbourne last night. Two years in the NL, then the bees move in!
  7. I agree great value. I wish I was going! no problem for me mate, I sat amongst you lot on Sunday. Next time can you turn the microphone up a bit, I don't think uncle Len heard you!
  8. I'd be surprised if this match was restaged at either venue. Lakeside's season looks like it's coming to a premature end and kent still have leicester, the u/19 champs and possible play offs to fit in. Does anyone know the maximum amount of meetings that are allowed to be staged at Central Park per year.
  9. I'm glad it's on for the sake of those bandits fans on tour that suffered a double rain off yesterday.
  10. i was sitting amongst the Berwick fans yesterday, I would hardly call it abuse. It was more like friendly banter, like we used to get between rival fans back in the good old days. In fact their version of 'high ho silver lining' was better than jeff beck's original!
  11. With all the doom and gloom at lakeside last night regarding lost sponsors, poor weather and falling crowds, tonight I head for the house of fun at hoddesdon. And what next for the speedway fan in the south east, more doom and gloom at Arlington next Saturday!. I didn't mention the kent kings tomorrow because it will probably be rained off!.
  12. I would imagine the heat ten declaration has something to do with the cost of restaging abandoned meetings. In Sweden they can declare a result after only eight races!
  13. i totally agree with you. Modern day speedway is like Japanese speedway of the 1970's, raced on Tarmac!. There are a few riders with a grass track background like chris Harris that can ride grippy tracks with dirt on, but they are becoming a minority.
  14. sure about what. No refund after ten heats - yes, kent letting readmission ticket holders in for nothing the following week - yes. My memory is not that bad!
  15. I agree, you pay for fifteen heats, you should receive fifteen heats. If not this week then reduce the price of the next meeting you attend.
  16. nothing, although I did get a free meeting at kent a couple of weeks ago when the previous weeks match was rained off after four heats.
  17. As a neutral and Arlington regular since 1972, the main reason for non attendance from the missing fans I know is the state of the track. Yes it is generally smooth and consistent, but it is so slick and does not produce good racing. For this seasons B Fixture against poole, the track was excellent, plenty of dirt, grippy and well watered. In fact it was the best I had seen it prepared in years. This meeting coincided with uncle bob being on holiday, maybe the guys who worked on the track that day just got lucky, who knows!
  18. even though I am a lifelong Wimbledon fan I have always attended neutral meetings since I was a kid. Last night was my third visit to poole this season!
  19. as a neutral that was there last night, I thought the reception ward got was quite Luke warm. I even heard some booing, but that might of been from the away fans.
  20. Lions line up including Bridger now on poole website.
  21. the Leicester website has Bridger and lemon riding instead of Howe and R/R!
  22. Is there anyone in the know who can confirm tonight's line ups.
  23. if the planning issues at Central Park can be resolved, it would not surprise me to see PL racing at kent next season and NL only at rye.
  24. No preview of this match yet on either clubs website.
