  1. Wimbledon and Wembley were far too posh. Watching speedway at custom House and Hyde road felt like being in a museum, you could feel the history. Just a personal opinion of course, everyone has their own favourite tracks and memories.
  2. England's two most historical speedway stadiums for sure, and two of the greatest race tracks.
  3. Fingers crossed the weather behaves on Saturday.
  4. We've all been weaned off it Sid. Last year i attended 4 meetings, my lowest total since 1968, which was my first season. This year I've done 9, which includes 2 amateur meetings at Lydd and 1 on the grass. I really feel we are entering the last professional era for the sport in this country.
  5. When i asked on Tuesday, the Leicester match was definitely on. I don't blame them for cancelling. The margins are too fine to take a guaranteed loss.
  6. Jamie had a nasty crash in the opening race at Lydd on Sunday. I'm not sure if it has led to the team change.
  7. My last meeting at Blackbird Road was the Golden Gauntlets in August 1983, won by Kenny Carter.
  8. 4. 57.8, 11. 584, 12. 59.1, 13. 58.2, 14. 59.7, 15. 58.8.
  9. Double headers are not popular for a lot of people. Forcing fans to pay extra for a product they might not want, is a recipe for disaster.
  10. Not a bad meeting. The crowd was down on last week, but that was to be expected with so many rain off tickets being used for the Glasgow match. Next week they go up against England on the box. It will be interesting to see how many people choose football over speedway. Central park for me!
  11. Because speedway isn't a headline sport anymore. Apart from those of us involved, no one cares.
  12. I know, unbelievable really. How good would he have been, if he'd have started speedway earlier in his motorcycling career.
  13. Staggering. I was just a wee lad when i first saw him ride for young England at Romford way back in 1970!
  14. I didn't fill in the programme. I only made a note of the individual heats on a sheet of paper. It should be on the Crayford website in a few days.
  15. Crayford 48 Canterbury 70. It was run over 20 heats.
  16. Open licence tracks were commonplace when i started going to speedway.
  17. I see unlike Poole, the dogs are still running at Swindon. The stadium is still operational, so speedway should have a chance of returning, if it remains open.
  18. I went to watch one of my local step 7 clubs, which attracted a crowd of less than 100. Yet they used a multi camera set up to film the proceedings. This is not uncommon at non league football.
  19. I went to a post season friendly at Chatham Town a couple of weeks ago. Almost 700 people turned up, staggering really.
