  1. I agree it was a very good meeting tonight, well run and back home in south west london by 10pm. My kind of speedway!.
  2. The problem with the star is that it's trying to make a sport that is mutton look like lamb. I don't buy the star anymore because sometimes it's bad enough going to speedway, let alone read about it. I bet everybody's been to a terrible meeting and have questioned their own sanity afterwards. It's the same with football, I go to quite a few matches, but I don't buy any weekly mags. There is enough coverage of both sports on the web if I need to catch up with any news or fixtures. I do feel that the star is very good value for money compared to some of the awful speedway programmes that are published, and does well to survive with such a limited market.
  3. It will be an achievement for the panthers to come to the tapes in 2015, regardless of the line up!
  4. In coventry's local paper it says this might not be staged until the last week of the season, a big risk if this awful weather continues.
  5. he used to wind Len silver up when he was running west ham, which from a Wimbledon fans point of view, was not a bad thing!
  6. I've seen good meetings and poor meetings at the OTA, you can say the same about any track.
  7. I really do fear for worky's future. This season has been one disaster after another. Derwent park must be cursed!
  8. Excellent photos of somerton park. I went there for both football and speedway, the track was a bit on the narrow side!
  9. maybe that's the reason his brother now looks the better rider.
  10. Monsoon conditions tonight meant no chance of any racing. I wonder if the kent management realise the first leg of the EL play off final is scheduled for next Friday, weather permitting of course!
  11. Looking at the rainfall radar, the majority of the showers are running north of sittingbourne in lines. Let's hope they stay there!
  12. While your stadium still stands, there is always hope!
  13. I agree with a lot of what you say, but try telling that to the fans of long standing EL clubs. There are none so blind as those who cannot see!.
  14. for a lot of supporters it's top flight racing or nothing. I know this from being a lifelong Wimbledon fan, when we dropped down in 1985 a lot of people stopped going, never to return.
  15. back in the good old days mike, eastbourne v Wimbledon was considered a 'local' derby!
  16. I can't see another season of PL working at the showground, regardless of who the promoters are.
  17. Because of the shocking state of the EL the panthers were probably better off in the PL, but they really needed a Friday or weekend race day to stand any chance of making it pay.
  18. This coming Friday sees the hammers visit Central Park for the last meeting of the season. I'm not a great fan of challenge matches, but I will make the effort if it survives this spell of unsettled weather.
  19. If the panthers do fold, maybe the BSPA could stage some big meetings at the showground. It would be a tragedy for speedway to lose such a great venue.
  20. As a neutral with no axe to grind, I thought coventry prepared a shocking track last night. The riders of both sides deserve great credit for soldiering on when conditions were far from ideal. Charles ochiltree would turn in his grave if he could see what has happened to his beloved Brandon this season.
