  1. lakeside are pretty poor travellers, so you should be okay.
  2. It seems the running of last nights british semi final at king's lynn (again!) has upset a few punters. Am I allowed to call this a farce or a fiasco or will I get shot down again!
  3. I totally agree with you shads, I don't think he realised how small the fan base was. The return of the raiders is a good idea in principle, but the vast majority of the rockets supporters don't follow both teams.
  4. At the start of the season, I thought why would someone with no speedway history buy into a sport which is well in decline. After uncle Len announced the big plans to improve the stadium facilities, i thought maybe the new guy has a long term vision for the launch pad. Here we are nearly into June with no sign of any progress, I'm starting to wonder if it will ever happen.
  5. i was, but I couldn't see him through the dust. It was obvious before the start that the track was under watered. I felt sorry for the fans on the back straight that were getting covered.
  6. It's just another nail in the coffin of a sport that is losing more credibility on a daily basis. The real losers are the fans of both clubs, for the promoters, they continue to fiddle while Rome burns.
  7. i totally agree with you, what little excitement the GP's provide for me has gone. Lower grade riders competing on awful tracks are what it's all about nowadays. Will I be going to Cardiff this year, not a chance!I've just noticed there was another power failure at stoke tonight, it must be catching!
  8. The problem for speedway is, people don't want to hear excuses about power cuts or the weather. What they want is a good product for a fair price. These days the public demand a good service for their money. When I go to a football match, I know it will start at 3pm and end at 5pm. All the delays and all of the excuses are the main reason a lot of my mates, that are long standing speedway fans don't go anymore.
  9. I reckon the crowd will be poor tonight. With the GP on the telly and the rockets at home tomorrow, only the die hards like me will be there!
  10. My old mate 'wembley lion' said these words to me a couple of seasons ago at yet another delayed meeting at rye house. In the past 24 hours we have had sun delays at king's Lynn, starting gate problems at cradley, a late rain off at ipswich when the forecast suggested it would never be on, and finally the worst of the lot, an abandonment at Redcar on a dry day. How much longer can the sport survive these fiascos that seem to occur on a weekly basis. These days my speedway trips seem to revolve around my local tracks, at least I won't have far to travel when the next farce involves me.
  11. At the moment eastbourne are competing against live Sunday football on TV. Very soon that will be over and I expect the crowds to increase.
  12. I've never liked double headers. The marathons at white city in the 1970's sowed the seeds for me.
  13. Thursday nights were a nightmare for me, struggling down the A13 and those awful flyovers!
  14. Regarding kent's crowd figures, You can only tread water in the NL for so long. If the planning issues and the curfew can be permanently sorted, a higher level of speedway is needed at Central Park to keep progressing.
  15. I know Len silver has his critics, but his stance regarding using Aussie riders at rye house looks to be a good one.
  16. i agree, he should get the hang of the Central Park track in no time!!!
  17. The A27 last week and the A22 today. The eagles must be cursed with all these traffic problems. Those fans that stayed away missed a decent meeting this afternoon.
  18. Rye might have new owners, but it's obvious the whole place needs a clean sweep to put it back on its feet. With another double header on the horizon, the club cannot afford another fiasco.
  19. Any sign of any work starting on the new stadium yet.
