John Cook Talks A Lot Of Sense

Yet another poor crowd at lakeside tonight, the fans are voting with their feet and it's too late to stop them. -
is it, no different to what he served up at lakeside last season.

never happened when I was a lad!

Lakeside V Belle Vue Select 29/5
cityrebel replied to Rob B's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The first home meeting for lakeside in three weeks and what do we have, yet another patched up EL team. Together with a dodgy weather forecast, it's gonna be hard to pull the punters in for this one. -

your wife must have some spares dave! -
Unless they were stolen to order, the items will be really hard to shift. The jackets can easily fetch £200 plus for right teams. There are a lot of vintage speedway bike collectors out there that pay really big money.

Rye house v coventry last Saturday cost me £11 including prog, excellent value for money. I must say I'm really enjoying the addition of the raiders and eastbourne to the NL this season. Good honest local speedway at a reasonable price, which ticks all the boxes for me.

Rye House Rockets V Redcar Bears 25/05/2015 Pl

I don't think kennett is a happy bunny at the launch pad shads. He looks like a bear with a sore head, before, during and after meetings. It looks like someone has upset him. It's not affecting his performances on the track though. -

Every sky match should be a fiver, it looks so much better on TV with a big crowd in the stadium. -
who would have thought it, Luke Bowen practicing at another track on the same day that rye house had a home meeting. Things have certainly changed at the launch pad.
-
no probs, I wonder if this rumour is the same one as lakeside relocating to kent next season, which has been denied by the hammers promotion.

8.30pm at the moment.

I was there yesterday and there was an excellent crowd for NL racing. Would the attendances improve enough to support EL, I'm not sure. The main stumbling block would be obtaining full planning permission when it's up for review at the end of next season.

I never believed that Wayne Barrett broke the Wimbledon CL track record back in 2002. The quality riders that rode at plough lane during that period never got near it!

I don't think that kent will be moving anywhere unless they obtain full planning permission, which up for review at the end of next season. -

So lakeside will be running on the same night as kent next season, bad news for fans like myself that attend both tracks. -
i doubt there are many tracks in the whole country that are run as a profitable business. As a former smallbrook regular, I wish the new venture all the success it deserves, but the crowds were poor in the islanders last season. It's that stretch of water that is the biggest obstacle to any revival.

There were a lot more characters in all forms of sport in those days, they contributed to the atmosphere and helped put bums on seats. In this era of political correctness, everybody has to behave or they are hounded by the press. There are no heroes anymore.

An historic occasion at the launch pad tonight. The first ever visit to hoddesdon by a coventry side in a league match. I have seen the bees at rye once before, in a four team tournament way back in 1980. It seems like a lifetime ago!
