Rye House Rockets V Redcar Bears 25/05/2015 Pl
cityrebel replied to JamesM09's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I don't think kennett is a happy bunny at the launch pad shads. He looks like a bear with a sore head, before, during and after meetings. It looks like someone has upset him. It's not affecting his performances on the track though. -
Swindon Robins V Coventry Bees 26th May 2015

Every sky match should be a fiver, it looks so much better on TV with a big crowd in the stadium. -
who would have thought it, Luke Bowen practicing at another track on the same day that rye house had a home meeting. Things have certainly changed at the launch pad.

no probs, I wonder if this rumour is the same one as lakeside relocating to kent next season, which has been denied by the hammers promotion.

8.30pm at the moment.

I was there yesterday and there was an excellent crowd for NL racing. Would the attendances improve enough to support EL, I'm not sure. The main stumbling block would be obtaining full planning permission when it's up for review at the end of next season.

I never believed that Wayne Barrett broke the Wimbledon CL track record back in 2002. The quality riders that rode at plough lane during that period never got near it!

Oh Well Theres Always Next Season!

I don't think that kent will be moving anywhere unless they obtain full planning permission, which up for review at the end of next season. -
Oh Well Theres Always Next Season!

So lakeside will be running on the same night as kent next season, bad news for fans like myself that attend both tracks. -
i doubt there are many tracks in the whole country that are run as a profitable business. As a former smallbrook regular, I wish the new venture all the success it deserves, but the crowds were poor in the islanders last season. It's that stretch of water that is the biggest obstacle to any revival.

There were a lot more characters in all forms of sport in those days, they contributed to the atmosphere and helped put bums on seats. In this era of political correctness, everybody has to behave or they are hounded by the press. There are no heroes anymore.

An historic occasion at the launch pad tonight. The first ever visit to hoddesdon by a coventry side in a league match. I have seen the bees at rye once before, in a four team tournament way back in 1980. It seems like a lifetime ago!

lakeside are pretty poor travellers, so you should be okay. -
Rye House 21st March And Now
cityrebel replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I totally agree with you shads, I don't think he realised how small the fan base was. The return of the raiders is a good idea in principle, but the vast majority of the rockets supporters don't follow both teams. -
Rye House 21st March And Now
cityrebel replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
At the start of the season, I thought why would someone with no speedway history buy into a sport which is well in decline. After uncle Len announced the big plans to improve the stadium facilities, i thought maybe the new guy has a long term vision for the launch pad. Here we are nearly into June with no sign of any progress, I'm starting to wonder if it will ever happen. -
Rye House V Workington Comets 17-5-2015
cityrebel replied to Gazza66's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
i was, but I couldn't see him through the dust. It was obvious before the start that the track was under watered. I felt sorry for the fans on the back straight that were getting covered. -
Rye House V Workington Comets 17-5-2015

It's just another nail in the coffin of a sport that is losing more credibility on a daily basis. The real losers are the fans of both clubs, for the promoters, they continue to fiddle while Rome burns. -
i totally agree with you, what little excitement the GP's provide for me has gone. Lower grade riders competing on awful tracks are what it's all about nowadays. Will I be going to Cardiff this year, not a chance!I've just noticed there was another power failure at stoke tonight, it must be catching!

The problem for speedway is, people don't want to hear excuses about power cuts or the weather. What they want is a good product for a fair price. These days the public demand a good service for their money. When I go to a football match, I know it will start at 3pm and end at 5pm. All the delays and all of the excuses are the main reason a lot of my mates, that are long standing speedway fans don't go anymore.
