  1. I must say, although king's Lynn is not my favourite venue, buster produced a superb race track last night. All of the riders looked perfectly at ease on it, inside and out. Well done to that man!
  2. i totally agree with you, it's just a shame that more people weren't there to see it.
  3. Both sides at full strength according to stoke website.
  4. who in their right mind would build houses right next door to a new speedway stadium. I just hope the mildenhall situation has not set a precedent.
  5. 7.30 on a Sunday evening might be ok for the locals, but it's no good for travelling fans or families with kids. My journey to eastie can take two hours from south london, and with a 5am start for work on Monday morning, it might mean a trip to rye house instead this Sunday.
  6. that was not the case on Saturday. The forecast for rye was far worst than eastie, yet they made the effort to run. The rain began at start time and got heavier as the meeting went on. Their reward was the lowest crowd of the season, for one of their most attractive NL fixtures.
  7. I don't think I've ever been to a rye house meeting when so many regulars were missing, I really was Billy no mates tonight. Well done to the riders for battling on in appalling conditions.
  8. That's terrible news with their big meeting due to take place this Sunday. I went there last year and was very impressed with the set up and the lovely beach opposite the track.
  9. I totally agree with you shads, he's firing someone else's bullets. Len silver will always be remembered as the man who financed the rye house revival, and brought about its demise.
  10. Very worrying times for all south east speedway fans at the launch pad. With all the uncertainty surrounding lakeside's future, the last thing we need is all of this nonsense at rye. Why doesn't Len silver speak up, how can he let rye house stalwarts be shown the door. I know that he doesn't own the stadium anymore, but that should not stop him having a voice.
  11. surely clubs have to complete their fixtures, regardless of if they are dead rubbers or not. I would have thought the eagles would still have to run the home fen tigers trophy match.
  12. Len will probably see both of us out shads!
  13. It was abandoned because of rain in 1987 and restaged as a standard 16 heat four team final at hackney. I seem to remember it was run in late October, I went to both stagings of the fours that year.
  14. Totally agree with you, he is better off out of it. I just don't understand what has happened at rye this season, the whole place stinks to high heaven at the moment.
  15. Lambert will definitely put more bums on seats at the launch pad.
  16. Maybe the rockets and the raiders have merged, with only one boss instead of two?
  17. My first two memories of John Louis, like my mate 'wembley lion' were in 1970. Firstly riding for the youngs Brits against the mad Czechs at Romford, followed by the occasional appearance for west ham at custom house. What really stood out for me as a child were his 'tiger' leathers, a real flash of colour when most riders were still racing in black!
  18. I thought the track was excellent on Sunday, the best I've seen it this season.
  19. eddie, look at Robert lambert at rye the other week, he was absolutely flying. I've been going to hoddesdon since 1972, and did not think it was possible to do that sort of speed on a track that tight.
  20. i hope they do, chance of a few extra meetings for me in October.
