  1. Seeing Roy trigg upset the form book by getting on the rostrum at west ham in 1970. This was my first british final, and the best!
  2. i don't want him anywhere near the tractor at kent dave. The curfew would be breached every week!
  3. After attending Arsenal v Bayern at the emirates on Tuesday, last night showed what a poor unprofessional sport speedway is. The promoters in this country are to blame for the state of things, not the riders or the GP's. Years of self interest has left the sport on its knees. The events at perry Barr last night will have driven more fans away from speedway, some never to return.
  4. i have to agree with you. Len silver is not my cup of tea, but under his ownership the future of the club seemed secure. The new promoters have a big job on their hands, to upgrade a deteriorating stadium and increase an ever shrinking fan base. Uncertain times ahead for the rockets I fear.
  5. to be honest shads, regarding arsene wenger, I've tended to sit on the fence until this seasons transfer window. As for Len silver, being a lifelong Wimbledon fan, I've never liked him!
  6. it's good to get the stadium improvements finished early shads!
  7. most people have got better things to spend their £20 on, and who can blame them.
  8. for that reason I'm surprised oxford is still standing. behave yourself!
  9. What happens if stadia uk pull out like they did at reading. Would the abbey remain in place surrounded by occupied new houses.
  10. too right, they're not gonna say there was a pathetic crowd here tonight!
  11. It was announced at least twice yesterday that the abbey would still run greyhound racing for another five months!. Surely the old place has to be demolished before the new stadium can be built.
  12. from what I have heard lakeside are not dead yet, and kent in the EL is not a done deal.
  13. the thing that annoys most of us the most!
  14. air fences are only compulsory for 500cc bikes. The training track at swindon looked in excellent condition yesterday, and is actually bigger than northside.
  15. I said my farewell to the back straight blunsdon bogs yesterday, twice!. I had tears in my eyes at the end of my second visit, this had more to do with the smell of the place rather than the sadness of the occasion!
  16. A decent meeting tonight with some good racing. Well done to the eagles for winning the trophy, and to the brummies for keeping it competitive right to the last race.
  17. I don't like individuals and I don't particularly like pairs meetings either. This is my prerogative being a grumpy old man, for this reason I am heading south to eastbourne tonight. It might be a dead rubber at Arlington, but at least it's a proper match.
  18. Like him or loathe him, matt ford is a promoter in the true sense of the word. Too many tracks in this country just open the gates and expect people to come.
  19. Plenty of new promoters have got involved in speedway thinking they can turn things around. The sport in this country is in decline, unless you race at Wimborne road!
  20. too right, after years of failure in the top flight, the eagles are now a big fish in a very small pond!
  21. Why would the current promotion gamble on running EL at kent when they have only one year left on the current planning deal. I still reckon it could be a current EL side who might be homeless next season moving to Central Park.
  22. nothing would surprise me with this sport.
