  1. air fences are only compulsory for 500cc bikes. The training track at swindon looked in excellent condition yesterday, and is actually bigger than northside.
  2. I said my farewell to the back straight blunsdon bogs yesterday, twice!. I had tears in my eyes at the end of my second visit, this had more to do with the smell of the place rather than the sadness of the occasion!
  3. A decent meeting tonight with some good racing. Well done to the eagles for winning the trophy, and to the brummies for keeping it competitive right to the last race.
  4. I don't like individuals and I don't particularly like pairs meetings either. This is my prerogative being a grumpy old man, for this reason I am heading south to eastbourne tonight. It might be a dead rubber at Arlington, but at least it's a proper match.
  5. Like him or loathe him, matt ford is a promoter in the true sense of the word. Too many tracks in this country just open the gates and expect people to come.
  6. Plenty of new promoters have got involved in speedway thinking they can turn things around. The sport in this country is in decline, unless you race at Wimborne road!
  7. too right, after years of failure in the top flight, the eagles are now a big fish in a very small pond!
  8. Why would the current promotion gamble on running EL at kent when they have only one year left on the current planning deal. I still reckon it could be a current EL side who might be homeless next season moving to Central Park.
  9. nothing would surprise me with this sport.
  10. The track was too wet for the early heats, similar to rye v eastbourne, a couple of weeks ago. The temperature does drop quickly at this time of year, even on sunny days. On the plus side, it was a very well run meeting, raced in front of a decent crowd for this type of event. Roll on 2016 and maybe EL racing at Central Park!
  11. it's nice to hear some good news in a very bleak week for the Teesside area.
  12. they have the most important ingredient in place for any speedway meeting. Good weather!!!
  13. Ronnie Greene's record of 7 league titles, 8 national trophys and 4 knock out cups as promoter of Wimbledon, must put him up there with the all time greats.
  14. Not the best meeting I've seen at the showground, but the crowd was excellent and josh bates ride in heat fourteen was a cracker!
  15. London speedway in 1970 was my first full season of visiting tracks other than Wimbledon. As a wide eyed youngster I was taken to four new venues that year. They were in visit order, west ham, wembley, romford and hackney!. The highs were, the dons winning the cup, Christer lofqvist's debut for the hammers, the lions reopener at wembley and the Czechs dicing with romford's notorious concrete safety fence!. The big low was the awful lokeren tragedy.
  16. it will be an easier step with someone else's money!
  17. lakeside to rye, swindon to kent. Maybe!!!
  18. Only a day to go, yet no meeting previews or team line ups on either clubs websites.
