They are no different down south. They started off higher, but have soon reduced to a lower level. They might creep up a bit, now that restrictions are lifted.
No mask enforcement or Covid stewards at Eastbourne yesterday. They jumped the gun by a day because of the extreme heat. I was grateful not to wear one.
To be fair to Len Silver. After last weeks Kent v Eastbourne fiasco, he did apologise and admit that he got it wrong by not pulling the plug earlier. It was refreshing to hear, when most promoters don't accept liability for anything.
I now take speedway with a pinch of salt. I went to my nearest track Kent last night, not caring who was riding, just hopeful of seeing a few decent races for the £20 i shelled out. My expectations for the sport are low, so I'm not usually disappointed.
No spare dates in the fixture list. The next free Tuedsay is October 26th!. A couple more rain offs could leave the club with a major problem. In hindsight, running two teams in a shortened season, might prove to be a step too far.
I was never confident the meeting would be on, considering the amount of rain i went through on the M25. i didn't bother going in, i diverted to a local football match after the plug was pulled.
Would the crowds return, if fewer meetings were staged with all the top riders competing. We were discussing this subject at Eastbourne this afternoon.
