Last night rye and eastbourne attempted to run against an atrocious weather forecast. Both ended up with late call offs with people inside the stadium. Sometimes an early call off benefits everyone. I can't comment on todays track conditions at the showground, but with a dry day expected it's dissapointing that the meeting is off.
Charlie monk, surely the hardest rider ever to get to sign an autograph. When I was a wee lad I cornered him in the Wimbledon pits, only for him to write the word MONK
In big capital letters in my book!
Kent has good facilities and a positive feel about the place. Rye is in a state, and the ultra slick track has been a real downer for me this season. 30 heats on concrete, no thanks.
Barry bishop seems to be a really nice bloke, very approachable and always finds time for a chat. The last promotor I saw greet the fans as they arrived at the stadium was johnnie hoskins at
Canterbury!
Despite a dodgy forecast I went to rye house and lakeside yesterday. Despite the showery conditions both meetings were run, but the crowds were not great at either venue.
