It's ok if you live local to the track shads, but hoddesdon is a two hour journey for me. The meetings at rye this season have been run at a snails pace, so getting home at 10.30 on a Sunday evening does very little for me.

So was this event the real farewell to the abbey, if it was, what a low key way to go out. No doubt if the 'new stadium' isn't ready for the start of the 2017 season, el tel can stage yet another farewell meeting next year.

An excellent meeting last night with some great racing. The crowd was very good considering the awful weather in the south east yesterday.

The main rain band does seem to be breaking up. All is not lost, yet!

This is one occasion when track covers could save the meeting. Anybody got any spare tarpaulins!

It was always going to be a gamble for lakeside, staging this meeting so close to the cut off date.

The attendances have been excellent. The cradley and eastbourne matches pulled in the biggest crowds of the seven meetings I have attended on the island this season.

Totally agree. Despite being a bit negative regarding the islands return at the start of the season, I have been totally won over by the new promotion.

The best rider in arena essex / lakeside's history. His track record at purfleet will surely never be beaten, if race times of recent seasons are anything to go by.
