That's a good point. I can definitely see a strict curfew put in place if the new stadium is built. At kent they don't go one minute past cut off time.
When I make the effort to travel to a meeting, I expect every attempt to be made to get the match on. At eastbourne last night I got that effort. Well done to both the track staff and the riders.
At Eastbourne last night the track was waterlogged at 7.30. Less than an hour later with plenty of sawdust, the riders were at the tapes for Heat 1. It was nice to see some effort made to get the meeting on.
Weather looks crap, so I won't be making the trip to watch buster scrape off the top surface. I got away with it at easbourne tonight, I don't like to push my luck too far!
I'd be surprised if eastbourne went PL, the crowds haven't been brilliant at Arlington this season. The punters never came in sufficient numbers for EL racing, the fan base just isn't there.
With the weather forecast looking a bit dodgy tomorrow, I wondered if there is a back up plan if this meeting is off. The first leg of the final is due to be staged on Wednesday!.
Both eastbourne and oxford failed to win on the Isle of Wight despite fielding strong line ups. Not all meetings in the BLC were walkovers. For some clubs in this country the more meetings you run, the more money you lose. Whatever the new format, it's still going to be a financial gamble for all concerned.
About a decade ago the british league cup was run on similar lines, but no one turned up to watch it. When clubs run two teams in different leagues, the lower standard of racing always suffers through lack of support.
As a long standing fan that has witnessed racing at some of this country's all time greats such as west ham and Hyde road, the new belle vue is right up there with them. Speedway needs to flourish at the NSS for the benefit of the sport as a a whole.
