  1. A great meeting at Kent, with some excellent racing. British Speedway was still alive and kicking tonight!
  2. Seems to be a threat of rain every Tuesday. Unbelievable really.
  3. 1968 & 69. I think the track was tarmaced for the stock cars, when the speedway packed up in 1962.
  4. I went to Pennycross as a wee lad on holiday in 1969. I seem to recall the track had a sand like surface, before being replaced with shale in 1970. I'm not sure if this made the track slower as regards to track records.
  5. How much does it cost to get into top flight Polish league matches?
  6. I've always felt the admission prices are one of speedway's biggest obstacles in attracting new fans. If the product was at a similar level to Poland, it could be justified.
  7. Something needs to be done to bring some fresh blood into the sport. Fans of any age would be a start!
  8. My missus hates it and my kids lost interest in their teens. What is there for youngsters at speedway. It's a sport that has stood still and never moved with the times.
  9. Brennan and Newman for the Eagles and Ellis for Scunny.
  10. Despite the lack of interest, i thought I'd get the ball rolling. Weather permitting, tomorrow sees another double header at Arlington. Both sides have riders missing, so a tough one to call.
  11. The back straight was always my favoured spot.
  12. So would i, love island is great, isn't it!!!!
  13. Used to be a fabulous track in the 1970's & 80's. Some of the England v USA test matches were tremendous.
  14. I wonder if he'll be there on Saturday evening, weather permitting!
  15. I went to the first ever meeting at the Wheels in 1984, and a further six meetings over the next 2 seasons. Unfortunately one of those was against Ellesmere Port, when Joe Owen had his awful accident. Some i did by car, some by train. I seem to remember it was a fair walk from New street station.
  16. I think i deserve a knighthood for the amount of money I've handed over to him from 1970 to the present day!!!
  17. We went throught some monsoons to get there, parts of the M20 were flooded. Overall it was a good hard fought meeting. The crowd was decent as well, considering the weather.
  18. An exceptional track, that will be sorely missed when it eventually goes.
  19. I would like to see him ride this season. Unfortunately he was injured when Plymouth rode at Kent recently.
  20. Thunderstorms forecast. Let's hope that nature doesent ruin the track!!!
