  1. I was also at Poole and he did make some basic balls ups regarding the T/R and the R/R rides.
  2. It was the heavy rain right on start time that made the track difficult last night. This continued on and off throughout the meeting. The riders coped admirably.
  3. Well done to all of the riders tonight, who soldiered on in very difficult conditions. You were a credit to the sport.
  4. There was some decent racing last night. Despite the nasty pile up in heat 2 and the multiple tape infringements, the meeting was finished by 9.45. The best decision of the night Was not to have an interval.
  5. James Shanes would be a great signing for the island. He is excellent around smallbrook.
  6. Len is an old style speedway promoter that likes to run meetings every week. Not many tracks have the fan base to support filler meetings in sufficient numbers to make them viable.
  7. That's the sign of a poor referee, when the riders are ready to race before the official.
  8. I saw Bickley at lakeside on Friday, and Brennan and Jenkins at eastbourne last night. They were all very impressive.
  9. I agree far too many re runs last night, still the meeting was still done and dusted by just after 9.30. Two hours is the norm for most meetings at all levels.
  10. Maybe it's just me. I don't like Sunday night meetings with a 4.30am alarm call waiting for me on Monday mornings!
  11. 7pm on a Sunday night seems a strange start time, with school the following morning for families with kids attending.
  12. Jake knight was having a spin after the meeting tonight. Maybe a change is gonna come!
  13. Both venues seem to be Frowned upon by the authorities. When was the last licenced meeting held at Iwade, the air fence is in place now isn't it.
  14. Iwade has just turned into lydd, but with an air fence. A shame, because both tracks are great training venues for young riders. Both are unappreciated by the powers that be.
  15. in the early 1930's I reckon. The first badge was made by pullen, the second by the birmingham medal company. Who commissioned it and why, I do not know. It must have been the first ever speedway reissue. Maybe there was a demand by riders and fans who were present at the first meeting.
  16. you are correct. I saw rye ride against the buccs in the second part of a double header with king's Lynn a few years ago.
  17. Jon Cook said in his programme notes last night, that the fans need to support the club at a time when it's needed the most. A bit ominous after only a couple of home meetings.
  18. I saw decent meetings on the island and lakeside this week, watched by very poor crowds. I hope tonight's match at eastbourne will be better.
  19. It varied depending on the opposition. About 750 on a bad day up to 1500 for the likes of poole. It's early days for the hammers regarding crowd levels. Two challenge matches and a league match going up against the football will not give a true reflection. The mildenhall meeting in a couple of weeks time should be a better guide.
  20. great minds think alike!, It was the lowest crowd I've ever seen at arena for a competitive fixture.
  21. I have the original badge from the first ever meeting at high beech in my collection. I'm not sure if it was just issued to officials and possibly riders. The first version of the badge has a rider sitting on a road bike, the later reissue has a speedway rider broadsiding. Both versions are very rare.
  22. It was an awful crowd tonight, but West ham v spurs couldn't have helped.
  23. Len runs these type of filler meetings at kent that other promoters wouldn't touch with a barge pole. I couldn't entertain going to this myself.
