To be honest, I'm suprised any youngsters take up the sport. There are very few on the terraces watching them. Why would any kids want to be associated with a prehistoric sport inhabited by Dinosaurs!

A lot of ex speedway riders still appear on the grass. I'm lucky that regular meetings are still staged in Kent, which is not too far for me.

My last five meetings have all encountered heavy showers. Before, during or after the event. Three at Kent, plus Eastbourne and Birmingham. It's a theme that we seem to be stuck in at the moment. What happened to summer!

I think the last 18 months have changed peoples lives forever. Many have lost family and friends, their jobs and in some cases their homes. It's impossible to carry on as normal. I know my relationship with my premier league football team will never be the same. I'm a lot more reluctant to hand over vast sums of money anymore. I'm sure a lot of speedway fans feel the same. For the sport to have any chance of survival, first it must learn to live within its means.

Totally agree. Running 2 teams was a step too far for Eastbourne this season. I'm sure the UK promoters expected a post Covid boom.

With modern technology and the latest weather apps, fans can make their own decision on wether to travel. I always gamble with local tracks, but i rarely take a chance long distance. Birmingham on Wednesday, was a rare occasion when i did gamble. Luckily i got away with it.

Early and tactical call offs used to annoy me, but now i take it in my stride. I was planning to go to Eastbourne on Saturday, but will now go to local non league football instead. I might see some amateur speedway at Lydd on Sunday, if the weather behaves itself.

How can the promoters sell a product that has no chance of paying it's way. If you can only attract 500 punters, then cut your cloth accordingly. The second tier is too strong and too expensive. The NDL should be run exclusively as a second half event to develop young riders. I don't know how some clubs can cover the cost of running two teams.

I've gone past worrying about the rules and the line ups. If the sun is shining, I'm happy to go. We were lucky to get away with it last night. According to the rainful radar, it was chucking it down a few miles to the west. I guess the Mason's were due a bit of luck.

Another enjoyable meeting for the neutral at Central Park last night. Some great racing, well run. Ticked all the boxes for me.

The crowd levels must be a concern as well. From a very healthy start, they have dwindled away. Covid restrictions and dreadful weather haven't helped for sure.

They had very little for sale. Mostly stuff from previous seasons. Next to nothing from this year. No plans to do a Seagulls badge, which is disappointing.

Looking at my records, i saw Plymouth beat a weakened Long Eaton side 51 - 27 in August 1969. Pennycross was No.2 in my tracks visited list, after Wimbledon the previous year. West Ham was No.3 in May 1970. It seems like a lifetime ago!.

We were booked on the 4pm from Lymington and came back on the 11pm from Fishbourne. It felt like a chartered speedway ferry!
