  1. He was very impressive at perry Barr last night. The track really seemed to suit him.
  2. It was a decent meeting at Perry Barr last night, and so well run. Despite a few re runs it was all finished by 9.10. Speedway heaven!
  3. What is it with king's Lynn and unnecessary delays. I was walking out of Perry Barr at 9.10 tonight with the meeting done and dusted. It proves it can be done with the right promoter.
  4. The less meetings you run, the less money you lose. Try telling that to Len silver!
  5. Meeting off according to rye house website. Rider availability, no surprise really.
  6. You are right, there are always a few eagles fans at lakeside. I don't think the promoters realise the impact of a home fixture clash with your local rivals.
  7. A mix up with the courier. The same thing happened to me on the IOW last season. Who says lightning don't strike twice!
  8. To be honest the crowds for league racing at both venues wasn't great in my era, Although big meetings like the british and intercontinental finals pulled in big numbers.
  9. At big stadiums like west ham and white city you were quite a distance from the track, especially on the bends. It never stopped me enjoying the racing at these great venues, that I still miss today.
  10. Speedway is all about opinions. If you think the racing at rye this year has been superb, then you must have low expectations. The track has been ultra slick with one line out by the fence, and as for the stadium, it is little more than a building site with no improvements carried out since the start of the season. I used to think things were bad under Len, but i enjoyed it more then, and this comes from a rye regular since 1972!.
  11. Although I'm a rye regular, it will be lakeside v IOW for me next Sunday. I always prefer a league match to a challenge.
  12. Because I've been a regular at NL tracks since the leagues formation in the mid 1990's, the drop down hasn't been a problem to me. Although a lot of my arena going mates think differently.
  13. I'm not going to argue about who gets the biggest crowds at NL level. I just find it sad that the majority of the hammers fan base seem to have deserted the club.
  14. I go to both rye and lakeside. The rockets attracted an excellent crowd for a midweek meeting against belle vue, yet the hammers struggled to pull in the punters last night. I will be at arena next Sunday, because I will always choose a league match over a challenge fixture.
  15. With Harris due to ride for Peterborough, I wonder if the rye meeting will go ahead.
  16. Really hard to beat around tilehurst, virtually unstoppable!
  17. I hope the track is ok for those riding and watching.
  18. The problem is, that speedway is a sport where the promoters make the rules. An independent body is needed to oversee fair play, but it will never happen.
  19. Not a good crowd for a Saturday meeting at arena. I fear the majority of the star struck hammers fans have deserted to the rockets. The group I stand with seems to shrink with every passing fixture, which is a worrying trend.
  20. My top five in my time of watching speedway from 1968 onwards. In no particular order, t.jansson, michanek, lofqvist, Jonsson and Rickardsson. This list is not compiled by acheivement, hence my inclusion of the west ham dynamo Christer lofqvist!
  21. Top man was Martin. I'll never forget his efforts while guesting for the dons after we lost Tommy in 1976.
  22. Well said Barry, I hope to see you on Thursday, weather permitting!
