It's a modern speedway disease. Run next to no meetings in the middle of the season, then cram everything in at the end. Hardly a good business model is it.
I was there last night, and the guests Definetely strengthened belle vue. With Eastbourne, mildenhall and Cradley to come, it's going to be hard for the warriors to get another home win this season.
Having the IOW as a stand alone fixture is a mistake in my eyes. They would have been more of an attraction paired with a decent side in a double header.
There was a very decent crowd on the island last night, so it didn't put many people off. Some excellent riding from Danny ayres kept the punters entertained.
I was there yesterday, and it was a poor performance by the hammers. The whole club seems to be treading water at the moment. With a lack of any real leadership, it does make me fear for the future.
Not a bad meeting last night, but in the end an easy win for the fast starting robins. Thankfully despite the cloudy skies, the weather behaved itself for once.
Chris neath was one of the best riders I've ever seen at rye. His track craft was second to none. He could pass on parts of the track that very few riders would try.
The present rye track is probably the best shape it's ever been, but top flight racing has done little to increase the entertainment value this season. My first visit to rye was way back in 1972, so I still attend due to habit and the lack of regular meetings in the south east this year.
