The hammers lost money at EL level last season. With the risk of no TV money and the loss of a Friday race night, I can't see how top flight racing is viable at arena.
Cookie said no NL next season, because lakeside are intending a return to the top flight. This will Depend on a satisfactory deal with the landlords. If the fixed race nights are Mondays and Thursdays. That means going up against Kent or being lumbered with a midweek slot, that was ditched by the hammers years ago!.
don't start me off on kroenke and Wenger, I've only just calmed down about it. That's what I like about speedway, being an ex Wimbledon fan I don't have any emotional attachment to the sport.
I was a regular at Crayford from 1975 to 1983. It was a tricky little track with poor viewing facilities, but I still enjoyed going there. It was all under cover with decent food outlets. It had a train station right next door, with good rail links to and from London.
Staging a meeting on possibly the busiest friday of the year was always a risk. Last night was just another 'day in the office' for speedway. I'm off to Eastbourne tonight for hopefully an incident free match!
A poor meeting tonight, that was put out of its misery by the nasty looking heat 14 crash. With the surrounding areas gridlocked three hours before the start, the match was never going to begin on time. At one stage I thought it might be called off.
