  1. Obviously they see that as a priority, compared to some tracks that are on the brink of closure.
  2. It might work at a seasonal holiday venue, but it could never replace regular mainstream speedway.
  3. I can't see Berwick taking many away fans. It could be another difficult night for the Brummies promoters.
  4. That's shocking. Fingers crossed they see the season out.
  5. I carried my 10 meeting ticket over. I've just about broke even.
  6. The crowd figures for the last 3 home meetings have dropped alarmingly. The novelty of live speedway seems to have worn off rapidly.
  7. The middle tier of British speedway seems too strong to me, especially with the likes of Andersen, Crump and Pedersen riding in it.
  8. When i cleared all the Greyhound racing equipment out of the old Wembley, there was a stadium tour going on at the same time. I stood there on the hallowed turf and listened, guess what, no mention of speedway. A sport that regularly attracted massive crowds was airbrushed from history.
  9. Wimbledon, West Ham, White City, Hackney (pre 1984), & Belle Vue (Hyde Road).
  10. Kent is a totally different. It has the meanest curfew in the country, with a mere 2 hours to complete the meeting. Tuesday's heat 2 pile up meant it was always going to be tight to beat the clock.
  11. When i worked on the speedway track at Wimbledon, if the forecast was dry, we used to flood the circuit on the days leading up to the meeting. It helped in getting the moisture deep into the base. Of course the Mason's don't have the same luxury of unlimited access to the stadium.
  12. He doesn't control parades, intervals and tractor breaks. That is down to the promoter.
  13. My first five speedway heroes were Nygren, Ronnie Moore, Lofqvist, Tommy Jansson and Briggo when he returned to Wimbledon.
  14. The track was poor last week. It's worrying that it has not been sorted. It seems to be an ongoing problem at Perry Barr this season.
  15. Once a referee arrives, he should have total control over the running of the meeting. Similar to football.
  16. It was far too long a tractor break, considering the meeting was already running late. Surely the priority should be giving the punters the 15 heats that they have paid for.
  17. A strange meeting tonight. A few good races, but it never really got going. A lack of urgency and a late rush to beat the curfew didn't help. I was suprised to see the kids come out for a demo ride after heat 14.
  18. It will be tough to come back after 2 years out. The sport is in a worse place than 2019.
  19. It will be a three week gap before Redcar arrive at Arlington on the 21st. This meeting clashes with a 5.30pm kick off for Brighton in the Pemier league. Hopefully it won't have an impact on the attendance.
  20. We just dodged the traffic last week. The whole area has turned into a bulding site since my last visit in 2019.
  21. Don't they staff it in the daytime. A nice little earner for them.
  22. It's hardly been a showcase for the sport, has it?
  23. Sad news. Phil was a fellow Plough Lane regular. RIP.
